Danny and I moved into a new (rented) house in my favorite part of town. It’s been a bittersweet year so far but that’s life innit. There are tranquil little details everywhere when you get the chance to look. by @modminx

I met Baby Driver (who I named after the song; I’ve still never seen the film) 10 years ago. I’d been back in the Lower 48 for just one day after my year in Alaska and I needed to buy a car. I found her at Enterprise. She was a used vehicle and so was I. She carried me home to California three days after we met. From that day forward, she gave me almost zero problems until her transmission went out. She’s driven between Los Angeles and Portland almost as many times as I have. She’s absorbed my tears and held my hopes and been a true sport for all my harebrained adventures. She kept me safe. Today I said goodbye to her and started sobbing before she even disappeared from sight. I know I made the right choice, but she was more than a car to me, and tonight I’m filled with gratitude for 10 years with my beloved Baby Driver. by @modminx

Winter in Los Angeles is a magical time in a magical place. I think it’s my favorite season here. The sunsets are vivid, the skies are dreamy, the trees are ripe with lemons and grapefruits and persimmons and pomegranates. The days are full of sleepy sunlight and the nights are chilly. It’s road trip weather. It’s happysad season. It’s for anticipation and daydreaming. I feel purified by every winter I’ve spent in California. by @modminx

Still basking in the beautiful, warm joy of my 40th birthday weekend. It took me so long to come home to NYC, and now I can’t imagine staying away. I’ll be back before you know it.

13. The sheer amount of food I have consumed on Mulberry Street over the years
