I had 15 inches of hair when I started my microlocs, so I get asked all the time why I decided to loc my hair when it was already long.

And honestly, I think there are a few things you should consider before starting your own journey:

Your length doesn’t determine whether locs are right for you. Think about your lifestyle and what you actually need from your hair.

Be honest about your why. Locs aren’t just a look they’re a lifestyle, and for me, they’ve given me so much freedom and time back.

And finally, do your research. Your locs are going to be unique to your hair, your texture, your install method, and your journey. Find your loc muse, but don’t expect your locs to look exactly like theirs.

I grew my Instagram from 0 to 10K in 36 weeks, and these are 5 things that helped me get there. 📈

Here’s what I learned along the way:

1. You don’t have to box yourself into one niche. Build a clear message people can connect with.

I used to think being “on track” meant accomplishing everything by a certain age.

Get married by this age.
Move out by this age.
Graduate by this age.
Have the career figured out by this age.
Have the dream car, the dream home, the dream life…

And honestly, I’ve accomplished a lot of the things I once thought I had to rush to accomplish just not on the timeline I originally imagined.

Looking back, I’m grateful some things took longer.

Because I wasn’t just trying to check boxes. I was becoming the woman capable of actually enjoying what I prayed for.

So at 26, I’m learning to stop treating my 20s like a deadline.

I don’t need to have it all figured out.

My 30s will be even better. 🤍

If you’re in your 20s feeling behind because your life doesn’t look exactly how you thought it would, I hope this reminds you: your timeline is not a measure of your progress.

I think we’ve become so focused on the idea of starting a family that we don’t always give enough thought to the commitment it takes to build one. 🤍

Marriage isn’t just a wedding, a title, or a relationship milestone. It’s a covenant, a partnership, and an intentional decision to build a life with someone.

And no, this isn’t about judging unmarried parents or suggesting their families are any less loving or valuable.

It’s about asking why we’ve become comfortable with the idea of building a family while sometimes treating marriage as an unnecessary commitment.

I believe marriage deserves to be approached with intentionality, preparation, and respect. Not because every marriage is perfect, but because the decision to build a life with someone carries weight.

The goal shouldn’t just be to find someone to have a family with, but to become someone who understands the responsibility of building one.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good, feel beautiful, and take pride in your appearance. 🤍

But I hope we’re just as intentional about cultivating the parts of ourselves that have nothing to do with what we see in the mirror.

Because beauty might catch someone’s attention, but your character, your heart, and the way you treat people are what give them something meaningful to remember.

Don’t spend so much time working on how you look that you forget to nurture who you are.

For most of my life, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted my future to look like.

I spent years pursuing degrees, being an athlete, setting goals, and working toward what I believed was the successful path.

So when that chapter ended, I struggled to understand what came next.

I had to confront the fact that the life I had planned wasn’t necessarily the life God was leading me toward.

And honestly, letting go of what I thought I was supposed to become was harder than I expected.

But I’m learning that a transition doesn’t mean you’ve lost your purpose. Sometimes, God is simply redirecting you toward something you couldn’t have planned for yourself.

You don’t have to know exactly what the next chapter looks like to trust the One who’s leading you there. 🤍

Q4 isn’t about becoming a completely different person.

It’s about getting more intentional with the woman I’m already becoming. 🤍

More faith.
More discipline.
More presence.
More gratitude for what I already have.
Less distraction.
Less comparison.
Less feeling like I have to rush the process.

I’m building my future, but I also want to be present enough to enjoy the life I’m building.

Taking care of what I have while making room for what’s next.

That’s the energy for Q4. ✨

Quickest way to do a top knot bun on micro locs and still make it look cute in less then 30 seconds 🤌🏼✨

Having longer locs definitely changes how you have to style them, but once I figured out this technique, getting a bun to stay in place became so much easier.
