Today, I would like to share you the opening sequence of Sahar, a very special short film we produced back in 2017. This film is special to me for many reasons. The first and foremost is the crew that worked tirelessly to make the story come to life with no actual budget. You guys and gals are the heart of cinema, thank you for your time and trust. The second was getting to work with and directing my sister, who had never really acted before but managed to deliver an unnervingly beautiful performance. I wrote Sahar for her and she embodied every feeling with so much bravery and respect. Lastly, Sahar was my first venture into genre, as horror has always been a cornerstone in my experience of cinema. This film allowed me to say a lot. They always went along with whatever I wanted to do And didn’t complain when I fixated on one song for an entire month and played it all the time There was always a bottle of my favorite hot sauce in the fridge And they kept the spoon in my coffee just like I'm used to do They taught me that the people you find in this life don’t have to be perfect, they just need to make sense And they did Especially on Sunday afternoons When time seemed endless and entirely too short They filled the silences When we were together, it felt like I was with myself I could just rot with them Feel like nothing one second and then be life I itself the next They were beautiful And I loved them I loved them I loved them Life is hard enough and finding people to share it with was harder I knew that one day they could break my heart And I could break theirs But now, at this very moment, in this very light I felt peace Which on somedays mattered to me more than happiness I felt like I existed in the second that was ticking away on the clock Not in the past, not in the future But with girls who couldn’t be any different than be and terrifyingly the same We loved as hard, we cared as hard and we had each others backs as hard - @moeyassine Director & Creative Director : @moeyassine Director of Photography: @nvghvm Assistant Directors : @luana.tabbara @lynnmeowla Creative Director and Producer: @melanchloeee Assistant Producers: @erika.kh @padreohaber Art Director: @erika.kh Assistant Art Director: @padreohaber Stylist: @sallyshehayeb Hairstylist: @gabriel_saltawi Photographer on set: @the.bkk Assistant Light: @clarenherrera Editor: @moeyassine Graphics: @ralphmassaadd Models: @sallyshehayeb @celineekhoury_ by @moeyassine
