“Like a Star” just did something to my nervous system...... in the best way. 😮‍💨

Here’s the shift I’m on lately:
𝗜’𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Being the “strong one” is impressive.......
but it’s not always kind to your heart.

Adult life will have you holding it together.....
like it’s nothing.

Meanwhile, a child can turn a random aisle into a whole moment.
A case. A high-five. A hopscotch square on the floor.

And suddenly the world feels softer.

Somewhere along the way, we learned to be “composed.”
To be the strong one.
To be the woman who’s always okay.

Even when life is heavy:
money stress, relationship stuff, family stuff........
and you still show up.

That’s why it hit me this week when a close friend checked on me
for real.
No request. No agenda. Just love.

It reminded me:
the rarest people don’t wait for a crisis to care.

So if you have someone like that........
don’t wait.

Text them.
Call them.
Tell them what they mean to you.

Real self-care isn’t always soft or aesthetic.

Sometimes it looks like:

I’m learning that real strength isn’t loud.
It’s disciplined. It’s gentle. It’s consistent.

I just picked up This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur Riley creator of Black Liturgies and it’s been a reminder that faith isn’t only what we believe………. it’s how we live.

✅ How we speak to people
✅ How we show up for family
✅ How we lead when nobody claps
✅ How we stay grounded when life gets heavy

I’m in a season where I’m building a life that’s family centered, faith led, and values-driven not perfect, just intentional.

Because if I’m going to be someone’s husband one day and a father one day……..
I want my character to be louder than my confidence.

A stranger asked her for help wrapping a gift....... in a parking lot. 🎁

She could’ve said, “sorry, I’m busy.”
Instead she said, “I got you.”

🌱 The Moment Everything Shifted

There was this day, 15 years ago, when I showed up for a volunteer shift at the Open Hand Atlanta, thinking I was just there to help.

But something happened.
Something that tracked on a deeper level.

I was packing meals....watching families walk in with hope in their eyes… and then seeing how much food almost slipped through the cracks.

Not because people didn’t care.
But because life moves fast, and waste happens quietly.

Recovering good food before it’s thrown away.
Moving with intention so nothing spoils.
Finding new ways to reuse what still has life in it.

Somewhere in that moment, it hit me:

Caring isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it’s the quiet work that keeps a community standing.

And that stayed with me.

🐾 Then This Year, the Lesson Found Me Again

I spent time at the Atlanta Humane Society..... and the same truth showed up, just in a different language.

Gentle hands.
Soft voices.
People choosing kindness even when no one’s watching.

Eco-friendly cleaning, mindful waste, repurposing materials, and protecting spaces so the animals can rest and heal.

Different mission.
Same heartbeat.

It reminded me how much better the world feels when we move with love — not for praise, but because it’s who we are.

💛 What Giving Truly Means to Me

Giving isn’t always money.
It isn’t always a headline.
Most of the time..... it’s presence.

It’s choosing to make life a little softer for someone else.
A little cleaner.
A little easier.
A little more hopeful.

And honestly?

The world needs more of that energy.
More people who slow down.
More people who pay attention.
More people who care, even when it’s inconvenient.

That’s the part that hits different for me.

Because when we pour into our communities......
our communities pour right back into us.
