WRAP made the cut! ❤️

We Really Are Pakistan is an Official Selection at the Gandhara Independent Film Festival 2026.

Of all the places this film could travel, Karachi is the audience I most wanted it to find. It will screen at NAPA from 2–4 October.

@khurramkoraishy found GIFF for us and then chased every last detail until we submitted. This selection has his fingerprints all over it.

A big moment for Gizri, for our team and for our three rockstar rappers.

Sometimes, finding the right words takes a minute. Or several. 😉

Especially when it’s an aunt and niece trying to find them together.

Clue #1. 🩵

This 14 August, something very close to my heart (fitting also as Abbu celebrated his birthday on 14 Aug)🇵🇰

In memory of my parents, Rafat and Nasreen Karim, we are launching The Next Chapter Scholarship.

My father spent his life teaching English Literature; my mother was a fierce believer in education, thought it could open doors that little else could.

THE BOOK EDITING SCHOLARSHIP — ANNUAL

One writer will be awarded a fully funded scholarship to work extensively on editing their novel with award-winning author Awais Khan. Awais’s authors have gone on to get their books published!

THE CREATIVE WRITING SCHOLARSHIPS — SEASONAL

Each time Awais’s five-week Online Creative Writing Course is offered, two writers will receive fully funded places on the course.

For this first round:

• Applicants must be Pakistani or of Pakistani origin
• Applications close 15 September 2026
• Applications should be sent to malicmohsinali@gmail.com

To apply, applicants must submit 500 words of their work + a one paragraph outlining why they wish to apply for this scholarship. Please include your full name and where you are based.

I know the struggle of taking a story in your head, to the page, and finally to a book shelf (whilst knowing no one in the industry). Sharing this 14 August gift, in the hope that someone else gets to write their next chapter. 🇵🇰

Can a fictional character change someone’s life?

What’s one film, drama, or book that has stayed with you?
