De Otter (anno 1631), Molen van West is de oudst werkende houtzaagmolen ter wereld. En staat in het kloppende hart van Amsterdam.

Niet voor niets dat mensen stomverbaasd zijn als ze midden in een woonwijk ons open molenterrein op komen.

Wat we veel horen is:
~ Ik wist helemaal niet dat dit bestond.
~ Het is net een dorpje in de stad.
~ Het lijkt alsof de tijd hier heeft stil gestaan.
~ Dit is een soort van stadsoase.

De Otter en haar houtdroogloodsen zijn een museum in wording. De houtdroogloodsen zijn voornamelijk geschikt voor bijeenkomsten met een cultureel, duurzaam, inhoudelijk of maatschappelijk karakter.

Seeing is believing, maar het beste is om langs te komen, want er is maar een manier om te ervaren hoe het zal zijn voor je gasten en dat is door er te zijn.

We geven je met liefde een rondleiding op het terrein en trakteren je dan meteen op een heerlijke croissant en koffie van onze medeterrein bewoners Bakkerij Louf.

100 mensen uit de Gillis van Ledenberchstraat die naar de Nationale Burendag kwamen!

Wat was het een feest om met elkaar samen te zijn. Precies waar ons mooie molenterrein voor bedoeld is.

Met grote dank aan vooral alle vrijwilligers van de Gillis van Ledenberchstraat die de drijvende kracht waren hierachter. En natuurlijk onze molenaars.

Last nu not least de sponsoren @bakkerijlouf, gemeente Amsterdam, Albert Heijn Frederik Hendrikstraat en DIRK Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat die het mogelijk maakten om dit kosten neutraal te doen.

Sharing some shots and insights of this video I made for @molenvanwest because I’m quitte happy with how it turned out, especially the aerials. Let’s go.

I shot this for Molen van West in Amsterdam with @world.marre and @vanessazarfdjian and challenged myself to use only natural light. No panels, just natural light and bounce.

This was my first time with the DJI Mini 4 Pro, and I’m impressed with the image quality. It’s a mini drone, and since it only outputs MP4, I wouldn’t put it on a cinema screen. But the latitude is nice, and for smaller corporate jobs it’s a drone you can literally throw in your backpack. It’s the size of your hand, which is crazy.

Grade setup. I always start in DaVinci Wide Gamut. I use a Color Space Transform to take my main camera, in this case the Panasonic EVA1 from V-Gamut to DaVinci Wide Gamut, and a dedicated DCTL to take the DJI’s D-Log to DaVinci Wide Gamut. That way everything lands in the same space.

Chromatic Adaptation for my fellow colorfriends.

I shot both cameras at 5600K, but that doesn’t mean every shot will look the same, because the sun comes and goes. To match the shots, I used the Chromatic Adaptation effect instead of the temperature control in the HDR wheels. It lets me adjust the white balance manually, like you would on the day itself, and it’s a more precise way to go from 5600K to 5200K when you can’t shoot RAW. The shots end up much closer together and still look natural.

With everything matched, I wanted a natural late-summer feel. It was an Indian summer day after a week of rain, with great clouds and plenty of sun.

The EasyRig! I shot this in a few hours, handheld on an EasyRig, with no tripod. It’s always a lifesaver for steady, handheld-ish shots with a heavy camera. And at 40, we need to protect our back..

Op 3 September toont Ruben Jurriën de nieuwe collectie, ‘Maak Nederland weer Gezellig!’ Gepresenteerd bij een Hollands pareltje midden in Amsterdam: de @molenvanwest . Met steun van @beemster_kaas en het @stimuleringsfonds Voortbouwend op zijn kenmerkende beeldtaal verweeft Ruben mode en comics nog nauwer met elkaar; zo creëert hij werk dat zowel het hart als het oog streelt. De collectie herinterpreteert de Nederlandse klederdracht vanuit een hedendaags perspectief en centreert ‘gezelligheid’ als een radicale daad van vriendelijkheid, empathie en verbinding. Het nodigt ons uit om een andere manier van samenleven voor te stellen. Waarin gezelligheid van iedereen is en lief zijn voor elkaar vooraan staat.

Building on his signature language, Ruben further intertwines fashion and comics, creating work that speaks as much to the heart as it does to the eye.The collection reimagines traditional Dutch dress through a contemporary lens, and manifests gezelligheid as a radical act of kindness, empathy and connection. It invites us to imagine a different way of living together, where gezelligheid belongs to everyone.

We’ve had a pleasure producing two beautiful installations of @laurieandersonofficial and Ragnar Kjartansson for @hollandfestival at @molenvanwest.

Two installations that explore listening and relection: Laurie Anderson uses binaural sound to put you inside another mind. Ragnar Kjartansson repeats a delicate choir until it becomes a meditation.
