Asian American Unity Fest year 2: This past weekend flew by in a blink of an eye and blew our expectations out the window. It was a blessing to have had a helping hand in organizing this fest with the best team and to have Cherub Chains perform was a little cherry on top. Thank you Karin for starting this fest and bringing it to life. I couldn’t have asked for a better organizing team - Karin, Mitchell, Chang-hwan, Andrew, and Sehun.

To unapologetically take up space in a room filled with likeminded people and those who look like us is validating but it’s much more than “representation” in hardcore. It’s showcasing some of the most powerful and talented voices, it’s standing in solidarity to dismantle stereotypes and condemn imperialism, and it’s giving back to the community that’s given us so much. An act of embodying the cultural revolution, identities, and experiences of the most moving and inspirational people before us.

I want to give a personal shoutout to @initiate_hc & @cujo_woofwoof !! When we were planning for this year’s AAU, the first two bands that came into mind that I wanted to put on the fest were those two. Both bands have paved the way for me and Cherub Chains. It meant a lot to me and many people to have them perform at AAU.

Endless thank yous to all the homies, bands, vendors, orgs, and attendees for being a part of such a special and historical weekend. At the end of it all, I hope every person left the fest feeling passionate to start something of their own and give back to their local communities 🫶🏽
