Tomorrow marks the 12th Gotcha Day, for Murray!!! 🤍 Twelve years ago the @berkeleyhumane brought you into my life, and somehow I’ve now spent nearly one-third of my life loving you. Even if your preferred way of showing affection is kicking me directly in the face while we sleep. I’d choose you every single time. Here’s to many more years of naps, adventures, and your complete disregard for personal space. I love you, old man

Checked into the ER at 1am with a gallbladder…

Checked out at 7pm without one…

Katie barely got out, “Do you wanna…” before I was grabbing my keys. Tacos and soccer just happened to be part of the deal

Proof that imagination gets a lot more interesting when you know how to build things… and when Julian says “wanna see the lamp I’m making!?” Just know… it can be anything, and in this case over sized office supplies.

Everyone needs a Hannah in their life- she broke me out of post-op house arrest with one promise:

“It’ll either be fun or funny.”

Cue two grown women participating in free will by voluntarily adding to a stacked collection of ear piercings.

Alright, Universe you made your point. Thank you for reminding me to slow down and appreciate the time at home, even when I didn’t realize I needed it. I’ve apologized for all the times I’ve shook my fist at you. I think I’ve gotten the message now… and I’m officially ready to get back on tour. I probably didn’t really believe in the phrase “blessing in disguise” until this year.

A lot of unexpected twists pulled me away from the chaos of touring for a while so I could actually be there for my family and for Murray. The word “sacrifice” gets thrown around a lot in touring because the work-life balance is almost never equal. But for once, my choices didn’t feel like losing something. They felt like taking control of the few things I actually could control while everything else around me felt uncertain.

Some days I’m yelling at the universe,
“Please get me back on the bus already.”

Other days I sit outside and think,
“Thank God I’m home.”

A few days ago, my mom and I grabbed coffee and sat on a bench by the water just watching the tide.. She looked at me and said, “I know it’s hard being home, but I love seeing you smile again.”

Murray is healing slow and steady, my parents are healthy, my pool is crispy, and I’ve got my tan lines back.

10 years ago we walked into the @berkeleyhumane saw this ball of fluff and with in 1 minute of meeting Murray my mom said “ok, well, he is our dog… gimmie the papers.” Then she looked at me and said “when you know, you know”

Here’s to 10 years of waterfront walks, porch hangs, zoomies, daily cuddles, and an endless supply of stylish sweaters.
