Hello! There's been a few new people following along lately, so I thought I'd (re)introduce myself šŸ‘‹ā

As you may well have guessed, I'm Molly. I'm a one-woman show that designs, makes, photographs, advertises and posts all of the jewellery you'll see here and on my website (also made and maintained by yours truly). It can be a wild ride in the studio (a fancy term for the corner space in my living room) when things are busy. It's just me (and my supervisor, Francis - my ginger cat who follows me around the house like a shadow) šŸˆļøā

I lived in Sydney for about 10 years where I studied design and jewellery making, and opened my little biz in 2015. My obsession with Australian birds, flowers and fashion gave my business a design direction that I've stuck with ever since. Any other bird-nerds and Ken Done enthusiasts out there? šŸ‘‹ā

At the start of 2020, my partner and I made the move north to a little, beachside town called Woolgoolga (Woopi for short). Despite the move being fabulous for my mental health and wellbeing, it should come as no surprise to hear that the last couple of years as a creative and small biz owner have been a real slog. I've been through a lot of creative blocks, with plenty of rollercoaster rides of excitement and disappointment around each corner. But every now and then, I spark an idea for a new design and it brings me so much joy when I can bring it to life. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you who've stuck around (and those who've just joined) despite my slower pace and greater time between new designs. New things are on the horizon. I promise.

Lately a lot of my creative energy has been spent on one of the most exciting projects yet - we're building a home! With the guidance of my mum's architecture and design expertise, and our incredible builder, we're bringing this completely unique, coastal, mid-century modern inspired, colorbond-clad home to life. AND it'll have a real studio space for me!

So, as you can see, life is a bit of a balancing act at the moment, but a very exciting one 🄰

✨ZODIACS OF OZ✨ After months of research, design, prototyping and sourcing the perfect materials, I can finally reveal my latest collection to you! Like a lot of makers, I lost my creative mojo and motivation over the last two years and went through quite the dry spell (huge thanks to all the gems who have stuck around). It’s taken me a long time to get back into the rhythm of designing and making, which is why I am so bloody proud of this new collection of TWELVE different ear jewels. With Australian animals that represent each of the star signs and a bonus gemstone to match, there’s a design for each and every one of you (even if you don’t follow the zodiacs).
šŸ‘€
Watch this space over the coming days as I plan to introduce each of the designs and why I chose the animals I did.
And in the meantime, have a crack at guessing which one matches your star sign - some are easier than others.

Coming to the online store at 7:30pm (AEDT) Thurs 20th Oct

Hello friends! Guess what? I’ve been keeping a big juicy secret from you and the social media world for more than half a year 🤐 Swipe to see what I’ve been hiding in these new overalls…

I’ve been tentative about sharing this news because I know pregnancy is a really tough subject and a difficult journey for a lot of people and I very rarely use this platform to share much from my personal life. And I probably won’t share a whole lot more than this silly photo, but it felt like the right time to give you this insight into my life and some context as to why I haven’t been so productive on the gram lately (have I also mentioned how much I hate ā€œcreating contentā€ for the machines though?).

Anyway, I’m still here trying to sell ear candy and always open to fun new design ideas, just frying bigger fish than the social media gods would prefer me to 🫠 Or should I say ā€œbaking larger bunsā€.

Got some snazzy jewellery wishes for me to create? Drop some ideas in the comments! by @mollycm

You may have noticed I’ve been distancing myself from social media of late. But today is not a day for silence. Today I’ll take the time to reflect on the history of this land that stretches back (at least) 65,000 years. The rich history that white Australia has tried time and time again to erase. Today is not a day to celebrate. It marks the day convicts were brought to this land and the Union Jack flag raised at Sydney Cove to signify the first colony. This date marks the beginning of colonial violence, illegal occupation, dispossession of land and genocide. It is a day that marks great loss to our First Nation Peoples and frankly, it marks a great loss for the rest of us. A loss of shared knowledge, culture and relationships with the oldest surviving peoples on the planet.

With the current state of the gut wrenching / appalling / disturbing / inexcusable war in Gaza unfolding before our eyes, and with world leaders sitting on their hands as a genocide continues and war crimes are committed, it feels particularly important for the general public, the little people, the allies to stand up against the colonial norm we’ve been raised to trust and follow. So check in on your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pals, attend a rally, voice your support for listening and acting on the wants and needs of First Nation communities and use your privilege to uplift and support the voices, businesses and art of Blak people.

Always was, always will be.

✨Where are my beautiful Sagittarius babies! It’s your season to shine✨

Alongside their fellow fire signs, Sagittarians are passionate, bold and creative. They’re free spirited adventurers with deep desires they’re not willing to let go. As one of the few birds that uses fire to hunt, the Black Kite seemed the perfect fit for this fire sign. It symbolises the freedom, exploration and desire possessed by a Sagittarius.

ā—† Lapis Lazuli encourages focus and determination in fiery Sagittarians. A close up of the Sagittarius hoop earring being worn. The earring features a shimmery orange Black Kite bird in flight, with a gold mirror background and sun rays radiating from the bird. It is finished with a chunky gold hoop earring and a blue Lapis Lazuli gemstone hangs from the bottom. by @mollycm

Outback Adventure Part 3 of 3: To recap, the wonderfulĀ @jorjporjĀ and I spent a week on a camping adventure through Barkindji, Danggali, Wiljali and Wandjiwalgu Country with Broken Hill as our meet up point. Check out part 1 and 2 if you missed them!

Here’s a highlight of our day 3 and 4 adventures: The Darling River Run from Menindee Lakes to Mungo National Park, the incredible, Mars-like landscape of ancient Mungo Lake and our final destination of Broken Hill’s Living Desert State Park.

1. After *many* attempts, we managed to capture the classic ā€œOh, what a feelingā€ shot. This road was long, straight and bouncy.
2. The cutest campsite visitors, ready for breakfast and these alien-like Ptilotus obovatus flowers ( AKA Silver-tails).
3. Emus! These ones were frantically running from our car until we came to a stop, at which point (to my delight) they decided to come on over and check us out.
4. Lake Mungo and the Walls of China. Home of Mungo Lady and Mungo Man - At 42,000 years old, they’re likely to be the most significant human remains ever discovered in Australia. The lake hasn’t contained water for around 18,000 years. The first image shows one of the many ā€˜lunette’ formations which are thick layers of sand and clay; formed over many years by the elements. They are the natural record of how the climate, waters, and landforms have changed over the last 100,00 years.
- Continued in comments Molly and Jorja jump for joy in the classic ā€œOh, what a feeling, Toyotaā€ style. They are in the middle of the outback - no trees, no other people or cars, just a long stretch of dirt road. taken in Mungo National Park and Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area by @mollycm

On the 14th of October, I’ll be voting Yes to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people through a voice the parliament. I’ll be doing this because I value the ideas, knowledge and opinions of our First Nation People and believe we will all see benefits from this change. And by voting yes in this referendum, we can help to enshrine the voice into the constitution, protecting it from being reversed by future governments.

Despite what the fear mongering No campaign might have you think, this isn’t just virtue signalling thought up by politicians. This moment has been decades in the making, led by Indigenous communities and their call to be recognised in the constitution and have their voices heard when it comes to matters affecting their own.

If you don’t understand what the Voice is all about, then I urge you to head to @yes23au to inform yourself.

This is too important to waste your vote, so make sure you’re enrolment details are up to date at www.aec.gov.au to ensure your vote counts. by @mollycm

Outback Adventure Part 2 of 3: To recap, the wonderfulĀ @jorjporjĀ spent a week on a camping adventure through Barkindji, Danggali, Wiljali and Wandjiwalgu Country with Broken Hill as our meet up point. Check out my first post if you missed it!

So, here’s a few happy snaps of our day 2 journey and campsite: The Darling River Run from Wilcannia to Emu Camp at Menindee Lakes.

1. The most sculpturally beautiful road kill I’ve ever seen.
2. A paddy melon (Cucumis myriocarpus), not the animal, the plant! I didn’t even know these existed, but they’re dotted all over the place out here. They don’t even look like they’re attached to a plant. So bizarre.
3. Obligatory dirt road selfie.
4. Golden hour as we arrived at Menindee Lakes. Glorious.
5. The Big Daddy Deluxe swag all set up at Emu Lake. Very cosy, very comfy.
6. An emu print! Presumably the reason it’s called Emu Lake.
7. Historic Kinchega Woolshed built in 1875.
8. Sunset. We couldn’t get to any of the ā€˜lakes’ in time for sunset, but this was pretty spectacular.
9. The Milky Way and Emu in the Sky putting on a show.
10. Our breaky stop at Lake Menindee. Molly stands on a vast dirt road pointing at a curled kangaroo spine. The most sculpturally beautiful road kill ever. taken in Menindee Lakes by @mollycm
