Borosilicate colors for discerning glass artists and collectors. Home of the original Gold Ruby, Meta-Terrania, Royal Jelly, Moonstone and more!

POSTS STORIES REELS

Happy Halloween Time !!!

There is a Sandcrafted version of Calypso on the site. We have been re-engineering Calypso (and Quasar) to make them more work-able and stable while retaining the magic of the original colors.

For those that remember the original Calypso, it could be quite stiff. This BETA run has a better viscosity curve making it more user friendly in the flame. It is still a "short" glass compared to clear, but is much improved from the original.

This fun color can be purposefully reduced to get copper reds and even luster effects. It can also be thinned out to get "Meta-like" blues. You can keep the flame more oxygen-rich to help prevent the copper reduction or coat it in clear.

We're still dialing in our production version and getting Quasar ready as well, so stay tuned for more!

Currently In Stock:

Gold Ruby

Electrum

Ion

Moonstone

Agate

Neptune

*lets try this again without IG destroying my color😂

I don’t have a chance to shoot glass much anymore but this gem from @elksthatrun got to step into the studio for its time to shine🩵💎

Color is Meta-Terrania from @moltenaura

For both functional and non functional glass art check out Elks page here on IG and Molten Aura’s page for some of the best colors out there to torch!

Happy Springtime! We have some lovely colors in stock right now: Neptune, Telemagenta, Ion, Lotus White, Citrine, Xenomorph, Meta-Terrania, Sunstone, plus some colors in the R&D section.

In R&D, we have some small test batches of 3 different UV experiments we pulled recently. These are early stage tests to try out different colors, intensities, and materials.

These are colorless, clear glasses with a violet, pink, or orange UV response. The brightness is not ION-level, but is closer to Citrine in intensity. The idea with these is to make some nice air-free options for UV overlays. There are many paths we are exploring with these, so we hope to have more of these kinds of variations to offer soon.

Regarding Electrum, Neptunium, and Chromium, we don't have an ETA on those right now. They are still being worked on in the background as the formulas and processes still need some fine tuning to get the consistency where we need it to be for larger production runs. by @moltenaura

Happy Holidays! We wanted to send our greetings for the season and some quick updates... along with images of this amazing Electrum dragon made by @milontownsend
Thanks Milon!

We're working on Neptunium at the moment and have a few other things online that we've stocked up on.

There are now Gift Cards available on our site. These are digital and can be given in any amount. They can be found on our Merch page.

We will be out of the office between Christmas and New Years, so no orders will be shipped out between Dec. 25th and Jan 1st. Any orders placed during that week will be sent out asap starting on Jan 2nd.

Also, once we're back after the holidays, we'll be stocking up on Electrum and some other colors that are waiting in the queue.

Have a fantastic holiday season and thank you for all of your support! This year has been challenging and strange at times, but we're grateful to be making glass and super excited for what's coming up in 2025!🙏🏼 by @moltenaura

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support! We are beginning to get back online. Many houses and businesses still don't have power or internet, and city water is going to take a while to restore. However, we have been able to make glass again here at The Lab and are starting to ship out orders. The internet is not 100%, so it is slow going at the moment. UPS came to pick up some boxes and USPS is mostly operational, so we will do our best to get as many orders out as we can this week.

As many of you saw, the river district in Asheville was hit hard, and Mountain Glass Arts and Level42 were not spared. Please visit their IG pages for information about how to help them get back on their feet. Both have GoFundMe links in their profiles.

Great to see so many of you playing with Electrum and unleashing your creativity with exciting new applications! We are impressed and inspired and have some new ideas of our own ;) We will get back to Chromium and Neptunium as soon as possible as well. by @moltenaura

Update from Asheville! As many of you probably know by now, Western North Carolina got devastated by a storm from the latest hurricane. The storm came through last Thursday and Friday and we have been without power, without Internet, and without cell service since then. We don't have power yet at the Lab, and when we do, it will likely take several days to get everything back online. We were steadily getting caught up with electrum back orders, but now we are obviously even more behind. The Postal Services are not running yet, so even when we get our power back on and, start making glass again, I'm not sure what the timing is of UPS and USPS etc. We appreciate everybody's understanding and patience while we work through all of this. We are safe and our families are safe and we have what we need for now. We will keep you posted as things progress and improve. by @moltenaura

- ION -

We are steadily getting caught up on backorders of Ion and we appreciate everyone's patience and enthusiasm for this new color! Backorders are 1 to 2 weeks out right now. We have some Abnormals in stock now as well as some Royal Jelly, Telemagenta, and Meta-Terrania. Gold Amethyst is next up.

Lastly, we have some sick new glow in the dark ION stickers that just came in. Our stickers get sent out with each order - one for each color you've ordered - and usually a pyramid sticker, if we have them.

Happy Holidays! Thank you to everyone who ordered Meta-Terrania and for your patience during November. All backorders are shipped out, and we have more Meta in stock on the website now - including Abnormals.

We are stocking up on Royal Jelly and Xenomorph currently, and will be restocking Gold Ruby soon as well.

We wish everyone well this season and extend our deep gratitude for all of the support!

We have some more experimental colors available online now. You can find them in the R&D section of our website.

Green Agate is similar to Xenomorph, but with deep, jade green coloration. Charlene @chacha_chainz recently used this color to make the stunning chain pictured above.

We also made a batch of Blue Agate, which produces dark and light shades of blue and dark olive tones.

Both colors are extremely fun and responsive in the flame. After shaping, you can selectively bring out swirls of opacity and color with the flame. You will also see different effects by using the colors under clear.

Additionally, we have most colors available now at moltenaura.glass

Quick mid-summer update:
We currently have most of our palette in stock. We just added Royal Jelly and a bunch of new experimental/test colors to the R&D section of our website.
We're super excited about the color pictured here. We call it Xenomorph
It is a pretty crazy EffecTone - just as fun to work as Agate, but with electric greens, blues, and whites that pop against a dark background of liquidy black.
There are also test batches of Copper Ruby, Neutronium, and Telemagenta Lite on sale now.
