Been watching the #artemisii saga with @kaileys_violin_studio for the past week and a half. She got me a really nice record player for my birthday. Since I got this vinyl at GDC2025, I've been itching to play the Outer Wilds OST (graciously signed by @andrewprahlow ). I finally got the chance, and on perhaps the most appropriate of days, when the crew of Artemis II splashed down safely after their inspiring mission around the moon and back.

Welcome home, Travelers. Thank you for braving these Wilds and coming home safely.

One of the perks of having a kiddo is forcing you out of your old routines. These days, I get to see the sunrise with my baby and @kaileyschronicles, and the sound of the Toronto cityscape at 6am is so different from the rest of the day. Definitely inspiring. I’ll have to take a portable audio recorder with me on the next one.

Music is by my good friend @heatheroboe who released her debut album this year! You can hear my guitar and arranging on a few tracks. I’d love it if you had a listen!

I’ve been working with them for a while, but it’s official: I’ve been doing additional sound design for @superanimalroyale and it’s been a blast! Super Animal Royale is such an adorably dark game and I’ve had so much fun envisioning (audiating?) custom sounds for some of their premium cosmetics and other mechanics in the game—not to mention that working alongside @catbaux (the brains behind the music and sound) has been incredibly rewarding and educational.

Continuous practise is, as every musician and composer knows, an essential component to honing one’s abilities. Composition and music production are relatively solitary skills, however, so I was super stoked to start a sort of weekly practice project with one of my oldest friends and collaborators, @eriksdrums / Erik Samuel. The tl;dr of it is that we got together to concept, write, record, mix, and finalize a new piece of original music based on a pre-generated prompt in no more than 90 minutes.

The prompt is actually a cheeky, mad-libs style text generation program that Erik coded masquerading as an imaginary email from a client asking for a piece of music with specifications for genre, mood, key & time signature, and featured instrument. Some of the combination requests get weird—like a rage-induced, kizomba-style dance track in B Minor and in 15/16 time featuring a slide whistle, all commissioned by the fraud who fake-signed at Nelson Mandela’s funeral. Look, if you want to get creative, sometimes you have to get weird.

Writing music commercially often requires fast turnaround times, and one of the things I’ve wanted to improve most at is getting into the “flow” of writing and recording as fast as and for as long as possible. This requires practice committing to ideas free of one’s own critical judgement. Nothing kills creative flow like editing your work before it’s even “on paper,” so I found that working with someone else helps you both stay on track—now we write, and later we put on our editing hats. This project is just for practice—if we come up with something worth sharing, I might polish it up and share, but I think the process is more important right now. #practice #music #composition #games by @moltencorr

🔸Least Fave Game: Mass Effect 3, but ONLY because of its ending. INCREDIBLE game and series, otherwise—left a lasting mark on me, both positive and negative.
🔸Graphics or Frames: Y’all, I’m in audio, haha! Graphics, I guess. I grew up in the 90s with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, and those games CHUGGED when there was an explosion on-screen—still have fond memories.

Had a phenomenal time meeting with old and new friends at the Canadian Screen Music Awards last night. It’s amazing to be part of a community that celebrates each other’s achievements so thoroughly. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and especially Mychael Danna on being given his lifetime achievement award!

Gig rehearsal with the great Wesley Collett-Taylor. I’m not sure if I really announced on here but over the past few years I’ve gone back to school, graduated, and launched a new career in sound design and music composition for video games and film.

Still love a great jam, but lately it’s just jam and it hasn’t also been the bread and butter.
