Hey! It’s me Nancy!

I decided to do a fun little studio shoot with the wonderful photographer @yu.lis.sa

I’ve created here in this studio for 14 years and have re-done it 3xs!

It’s taken a lot of work and many years to get me here and I’m proud of what I’ve created.

This is the first time it feels really good. It finally feels like me. It functions really well and it looks incredibly beautiful! Everything I’ve ever wanted and I’m in love.

I know the world feels like it’s falling apart right now and your probably thinking I’m crazy but I promise you my heart feels the future! The opportunities are endless to what we can create together.

While the remnants of an old system crumble imma let my imagination soar. I’m going to think up every which way I’ve wanted the earth to be.

🎨 CREATING CONFIDENCE THROUGH ART | MOMHAWK WORKSHOPS

A little color theory, a lot of creativity, and a reminder that you don’t have to be a professional artist to pick up a paintbrush! 🎨✨

I had the pleasure of leading a painting workshop for the teachers at Pleasant Valley Elementary in Winchester, CA, in partnership with Hemet Unified School District.

The goal was to introduce teachers to the fundamentals of color theory, build their confidence with painting, and give them practical skills they can bring back into their own classrooms. When educators feel more comfortable creating, they can open new doors for their students to explore, experiment, and express themselves through art.

As an artist, I believe art is more than the finished product. It’s about building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and creating opportunities for connection and growth.

Through Momhawk, I offer customized, hands-on art development workshops designed to meet the needs of schools, school districts, businesses, and organizations. Whether it’s professional development for educators, creative team-building experiences, or arts-integrated programming, my goal is to make creativity accessible and meaningful.

There is a moment, just before a work leaves the studio, when I pause.

I sign each museum-quality giclée by hand, wrap it with care, and quietly wonder whose story it will become a part of next.

Clarity began as a conversation with myself.

A meditation on womanhood. Motherhood. Purpose. The quiet understanding that our lives are not simply something that happens to us—they are something we create.

The vision we hold for our lives is shaped by what we are willing to believe about ourselves. Every dream begins as an act of faith. Every transformation begins with a new way of seeing.

This piece is an invitation to look inward with honesty, to trust your intuition, and to remember that clarity is rarely found all at once. It reveals itself as we continue to create, to heal, and to become.

May this work find a home with someone who needs that reminder.

I’ve learned that if you truly want clarity, you have to be willing to meet yourself in your deepest, darkest places. The parts of yourself you avoid often hold the keys to your joy, your purpose, and your healing.

Motherhood has taken me to the bottom of my barrel more times than I can count. It has asked me to keep going long after I believed I had nothing left to give. Again and again, it has shown me that women carry a strength far beyond what we believe ourselves capable of.

This painting, Clarity, was born from those conversations.

While painting this eye, I kept asking myself for guidance. What is my purpose? What path am I meant to walk? Stroke by stroke, I reflected on my life as a woman, a mother, and a wife. By the time I finished this piece, I had my answer.

This is my path.

To live as a creator. To mother not only my own child, but my community. To create spaces for connection, remembrance, and healing. To honor this human experience as fully as I can, and to trust the gifts I’ve been called to share.

Sometimes clarity doesn’t arrive all at once. Sometimes it’s painted, one brushstroke at a time.

For generations, tamales have been more than food—they’ve been a path to resilience.

How many women have found financial independence by selling tamales? How many families have been held together by recipes passed from one generation to the next?

I know I’m part of that story.

As I sign these Tamalitos prints, I’m reminded that this artwork is an offering to our ancestors, our culture, and the women whose hands taught us that creativity, tradition, and entrepreneurship can nourish both the heart and the home.

Whether sold out of necessity or shared as an act of love, tamales always carry something deeper: memory, connection, and hope.

Some memories don’t live in photographs—they live in the smell of tamales, the rhythm of a Santana song, and the hands that gather around the table.

Tamalitos is my love letter to our cultura. To the recipes passed down, the laughter that fills the kitchen, the music that gets everyone dancing, and the rituals that remind us who we are.

I created this piece as an ofrenda for my ancestors—a painting to place on my altar during Día de los Muertos, honoring those whose love, traditions, and resilience continue to guide me. Through food, family, song, and dance, we remember that those who came before us are never truly gone.

As Oye Como Va plays, I’m reminded that our culture isn’t something we visit—it’s something we live. Every meal, every celebration, every story shared keeps our ancestors close and our community strong.

I wanted to learn how to make tamales, so I called my cousin. ❤️ We planned everything over Zoom—from the ingredients to the recipe—and then gathered the family to make tamales together.

As we cooked, I could almost hear my grandmothers guiding us… “un poquito más de esto, un poquito más de aquello.” I felt them with us the entire time.

Afterward, I painted Tamalitos to honor every part of the journey: the research, the cooking, the laughter, the family, and the joy of sharing a meal. The painting was always meant to become an ofrenda on my Día de los Muertos altar—a way of remembering that love, tradition, and our ancestors continue to nourish us.

La comida también guarda memoria. 🫔🧡
