I set out the extracter & bins so the bees can take care of it! They get honey & wax for the hive & I don’t get all sticky cleaning up. 😁

I know it seems easy, but what you don’t see is me burning my hand and slicing my finger with the hot knife. Not gonna lie, this was by far my least favorite part of the process.

With that being said, there are a few things that I would do different next honey harvest season. One of them would be having Chris do the uncapping! 😝 We will have a better area set up for harvesting next year other than our front porch & I might look into an uncapping tool, which looks like a mini pick. The hot knife worked, and it got the job done, so I’m pretty pleased with myself for this first year! 💪

Here’s how I know beekeeping is possible for you…

I knew absolutely nothing about beekeeping when I got my first hive.

I got all my friend’s old boxes and supplies when they moved to Tennessee (Still salty about that!)

I was overwhelmed and the bees ended up abandoning the hive before I could take a class.

The empty hive boxes sat out by my chicken coop for a year.

Two months ago, I walked out to this.

Nature knows what to do.

I sent a video to my friend in Tennessee and her husband helped us get in contact with the local beekeeping club.

Beekeepers are always willing to help a novice and share their expertise.

I’m here to say if I can do this, you can too!

Honestly, the bees do most of the work.

You don’t need to spend lots of $$$ or have fancy equipment.

Find your local beekeeping club and follow me. We can learn and grow together. 🐝
