2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣8️⃣, MONAI IS COMING FOR YOU🎓🫵🏾 I am not throwing away MY SHOT

To Asia: Hey girl you did it. Born not supposed to make it but you’re here. Walking across a stage that was unfathomable for your ancestors… that’s what you came here for. Our ancestors didn’t get the chance that our generation gets. You didn’t look past that chance, you took it. Took it and ran with it, never to look back. You made some mistakes through this Eagle journey but you made it. The times you felt like a disappointment, a failure, not qualified, uh huh YOU DID IT. Beat 2 court cases and still walked across that stage, yes ma’am. Beat suicide attempts, depression , anxiety, self destruction, self hate, and heartbreak; STILL WALKING ACROSS THAT STAGE. I am proud of the mark you’ve left on this Earth for your people. I am proud of the Woman you’ve become. I am proud of the EAGLE you’ve become. Most importantly though Asia, I love you and I mean it. I love you, unconditionally no matter what stage in life you’re in. I’ll never leave you, I’ll never abandon you, I’ll always hold you. P.S. You did it in 4️⃣, now you have to do it in 2️⃣.

Monai THE GRADUATE🎓🦅

To my Village: Thank you for sacrificing for me and my sisters. You all have sacrificed so much time, love, attention, and finances into me and for that I am forever grateful. Y’all showed up for us, if not everybody could make it at least one person was there as support. Your presence means the world. Just being present is a blessing. Thank you for pouring life into me from day 1. To my parents, yall did the damn thang (sorry for cussing😭), I am proud of the BOTH of you. Each of you have three beautiful children and raised us in ways that led to success. You had me young and probably didn’t know what to do, but both of you led me across this stage by preparing me for life. To my praying Grandparents Sandra and Randy, Ma thank you for helping me discipline myself in my faith. Thank you for praying with me through every situation. Thank you for not judging me as I grow. Grandma, I remember you telling me there was certain roads “colored folk” couldn’t walk down in the evenings; now you witness all the “colored folk” at North Carolina Central University walk down a certain stage, that leads to a certain road. To my Grandma Manda, thank you for being my backbone. Thank you for supporting for mother all these years. Thank you for sacrificing so much of yourself for us. All your hard work and dedication, thank you. To the rest of my family, thank you for all your love and support. To my ancestors, we did it… and we’re not going back. I won’t let “them” take us back. To my Black Brothers and Sisters, every opportunity is afforded to us… take it. This country does not want you walking across that stage, this country does not want you to succeed. What will you do in the eyes of oppression? SOAR anyways🫡

This didn’t make the news @wral @abc11_wtvd but it still stands. We will not be quiet in the face of oppression. We will not bow down to systemic racism. We WILL NOT GO BACK. WE WILL VOTE. If not at “our” sites then we WILL be at YOURS. @instagram is actively trying to suppress my voice and uh huh won’t let it happen because I’m Monai and I always got something to say. “God Bless America”. Monai out✌🏾

Title: Did it in 4…

I did it my way

Did it in 4

4 years to be exact

Nothing I would retract

First couple of years I didn’t know how to act

Now I’m stronger, I’m wiser… Monai is BACK

Stronger & Wiser… Monai is BLACK

Did it in 4

I couldn’t do no more

4 years of classes and tours

4 years of classes and white boards

4 years of classes, I don’t wear Tom Ford

I did it in 4

Right in the slopping hills & verdant greens

Nowhere near the shore

I did it in 4

They tried to cuff me up

Bout myself, I wasn’t feeling so sure

Beat the odds

God we did it in 4

Should I keep going?

Think I got a couple more

To my Father: Agape: unconditional, sacrificial, and selfless love. This is the love God has for us and has shown me. Thank you for loving me unconditionally no matter the circumstances. God I have the upmost gratitude for you…I am nothing without you. I am nothing without your grace and mercy. I remember the night I fell to my knees asking you “Why”. “Why” so much pain? Now 3 years later I have the answer. The point of pain is for God to get the glory out of it anyways. And you got the glory out of me. This degree… I give you praise. Thank you for molding me. Thank you for maturing me; I came into college being Asia, I left being Monai.

To my Eagles: An Eagle is no ordinary bird. We are no ordinary students. We are NCCU, We are the leaders of our generations and the next. We have to lead our people to success. It is our duty in Truth&Service to grow our communities. Do not forget what we came here to do; not just get that degree (job well done) but take that knowledge and sow seeds in our communities. To my graduates, EAGLE PRIDE.. AMPLIFIED🎓🦅

To all: I love you and am grateful for everything you’ve done for me. I am proud of all of everyone’s accomplishments and achievements. Congratulations to all the graduates across the world.
