D R A M A. 🤎✨

As makeup artists, we sometimes get so caught up in following trends that we forget to put our own creative spin on things and showcase the versatility of our artistry.

While everyone’s been embracing the pink blush trend, I felt like switching things up and having a little fun with some dramatic, warm, Gulf-inspired Arab glam.

Bold eyes, sculpted features, and a little extra drama. ✨

She sat in my chair and told me one thing: “I don’t want foundation.” So we didn’t use any. 🤍

Instead of covering her skin, I focused on strategic concealer placement only where we actually needed it. Then I used an underpainting technique with contour and bronzer to create the depth and dimension that can sometimes get lost when perfecting the complexion.

The result? Her real skin stayed visible, her complexion still felt polished, and everything had shape without feeling covered in makeup.

Sometimes a beautiful base isn’t about adding more product — it’s knowing exactly where to put it. 🤍

This is your sign to buy all the plum and berry blushes this fall season 😌. Or even dye your hair 😉

Undereye coverage without the cake 🎂🚫

My trick for deeper under-eye darkness is layering different concealer textures, not just adding more of the same product in thin layers.

I start with a high-pigment concealer with a lightweight, serum-like consistency — Lancôme Teint Idole Concealer — to get coverage while keeping the under-eye thin and flexible.

Then I add just a touch of - IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye full coverage - only where I need that extra coverage. Because it’s richer and more full-coverage, a tiny amount goes a long way.

The key: thin, lightweight coverage first → concentrated coverage only where needed → patience before blending

More coverage doesn’t have to mean more product. ✨

MUA TIP ✨ Why I love a beige liner in the waterline

A beige/nude liner can instantly make the eyes appear brighter, more awake and slightly larger without the stark contrast that a white liner can sometimes create.

It’s especially beautiful with soft glam because it brightens the eye while still looking natural and seamless. 🤎

White = brighter & more dramatic
Beige = softer & more natural

Such a small detail, but it can completely change the finished look. #ottawamakeupartist #explore #ottawawedding #bride #ottawa by @monalizeglams

IMPORTANT READ: Engagement Photoshoot Glam ✨📸

When a client comes to me for photoshoot glam—or even glam for a special event—there’s so much more that goes into the makeup than simply choosing a look.

Product placement and intensity are key. I always take into consideration the photographer’s editing style, the lighting, the time of day, and whether the shoot will be indoors or outdoors.

Makeup can translate completely differently on camera depending on these factors. The placement, textures, finishes, and intensity all need to be intentional—not one-size-fits-all.

The goal isn’t just for the makeup to look beautiful in person. It’s to create a look that complements my client AND translates beautifully through the photographer’s lens. ✨🤍#ottawamakeupartist #ottawaevents #ottawawedding #gatineau #ottawa by @monalizeglams

Mature skin isn’t about hiding age—it’s about enhancing confidence. ✨ Soft, radiant, and tailored to her features because beautiful makeup should make you still feel like yourself, just with an extra oomph 😉.

My beautiful Maria 🤍 The magic happens when you stop playing it safe. A bold lash can elevate a soft smokey without taking away from your overall look. Giving it that “extra smoke” without adding more eyeshadow.#ottawamakeupartist #ottawaevents #ottawawedding #gatineau #ottawalife by @monalizeglams
