Stepping out of the scenery and into the wild. 🌀 I’ve been heavily focused on landscapes lately, but I needed to break up the routine with one of my colorful animals. 🐻

Still a work in progress, but I am absolutely loving the result so far. Right now, I’m focused on adding more details and depth to really make those dreamy features pop. taken in Penticton, British Columbia by @monarch_11

Meet Pluto, the incredible and adorable 11-year-old burrowing owl! 🦉

I had the absolute honor of meeting Pluto, an indispensable educational ambassador for the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC. Did you know that burrowing owls are an endangered species in Canada? These tiny, ground-dwelling birds once thrived across British Columbia’s interior grasslands, but due to severe habitat loss, they completely vanished from BC by the 1980s.

That is where the dedicated team at the Oliver facility steps in. The Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC works tirelessly to raise, care for, and safely reintroduce captive-bred owls back into artificial underground burrows in the grasslands to restore healthy, balanced wild populations.

While wild burrowing owls typically live 4 to 6 years, Pluto has spent his 11 years helping educate schools and communities about preserving grassland ecosystems and bringing these amazing birds back from the brink. Inspired by Pluto’s vibrant personality, I captured him on canvas using deep purples, blues, and bright yellow eyes set against a vivid turquoise background.

There is something so magical about looking at an apex predator and seeing absolute peace. This new grizzly bear painting is all about capturing that quiet, soulful moment of vulnerability under a celestial canopy.

Instead of traditional forest tones, I wanted to lean into a dreamlike world—building the form with deep cobalt blues, rich violets, and pops of electric neon teal. The sharp, geometric stars in the background create a beautiful contrast against the soft, organic flow of the fur. He’s not a symbol of ferocity here; he’s a peaceful guardian of the night.

This piece holds a special place in my heart. I always remember these beautiful Blue Jays growing up in Montréal. They used to visit our house with their babies, and that memory inspired this piece.

There is something so magical about capturing wildlife in vibrant acrylic paint! Brings me to my happy place 😁

Bringing a little piece of wine country paradise onto the canvas.

There is nothing quite like the rhythm of the vineyard rows and the bold colors of the mountains when the sun hits just right. This piece is all about capturing that warm, peaceful energy we all love about afternoon strolls through the vines.

Stepping out of the city and into the wild with my dreamy bear. 🐻

I wanted to focus entirely on the striking presence of a Canadian grizzly bear, but with my colourful, celestial twist. By building up layers of rich cobalt blue, deep violet, and vibrant turquoise, I wanted to capture a moment of quiet contemplation—translating the massive power of a gentle giant into a peaceful, dreaming soul under a geometric night sky.

Every single expressive brushstroke was painted from the heart, blending textured palette work with rich contemporary wildlife aesthetics to bring this guardian of the forest to life.

Pluto is a tribute to resilience, conservation, and the beauty of one of British Columbia’s most remarkable birds.

Inspired by my encounter with Pluto, an 11-year-old educational ambassador for the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC, this painting honours a species that disappeared from British Columbia’s grasslands by the 1980s due to habitat loss. Through dedicated conservation efforts, burrowing owls are once again being reintroduced to their native habitat.

Painted in luminous purples and blues with radiant golden eyes, Pluto celebrates the enduring connection between wildlife, art, and our shared responsibility to protect what is rare. taken in Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, Oliver, BC by @monarch_11

Celebrating 25 years of an Ethereal Bond.

When creating this anniversary commission, I wanted to paint more than just owls; I wanted to paint the feeling of enduring devotion. Twenty-five years means a shared horizon, mutual protection, and a love that creates its own vibrant light.

May these two guardians bring joy and be a reminder of a beautiful bond for the next 25 years and beyond. 🏛️❤️

Kindred Spirits 🦉

Some souls never need words.

They find one another in quiet moments, in steadfast presence, and in the comfort of simply being side by side. Through every changing season, they become a reminder that the deepest connections aren’t spoken—they’re felt.

To be a kindred spirit is to be seen, understood, and chosen, over and over again.

May we all find the one whose heart feels like home. 🤍
