EvelynUnfortunately I had to dig Evelyn up along with both Eustacia Vye’s because of Rose Rosette Virus/Disease (RRD). RRD is a deadly virus that causes deformed growth on roses and eventual death spread by microscopic mites that blow in the wind. There are acres of infected multiflora roses just west of my property, I know this is a battle I will probably lose, but I’m not ready to give up just yet. One of my favorite things to photograph is my dogwood tree, and I have to say it’s the most spectacular one I’ve ever seen. Distant Drums About 5 years ago my mom sent me a picture of Distant Drums and said I should get it because it was so beautiful and unique, just like me. I thought it was pretty but didn’t have as many petals as I like so I didn’t get it. I lost my mom October 10, 2022, just 4 days after her 62nd birthday and one month before mine. That first winter I searched for the perfect rose to plant in her memory and just couldn’t find ‘the one’…until I saw Distant Drums and that conversation came back to me. My mom didn’t grow roses, but she always bought them for me, I think that’s is a big part of why I’m so obsessed with them, to me they equal big love. ❄️🎶Baby it’s cold outside🎶❄️American Tree Sparrow in the bitter cold, I love that its eye is half closed, it adds to the sweetness of this adorable floof. I haven’t seen one of these in years, I guess the -5F temps made them come to my feeders.
