Don’t see many of these anymore. BMW once decided to stuff a motorsport-derived 5.0 litre V10 into a humble family sedan to create the mighty E60 M5. Perhaps the reason for their scarcity now is the apparently ruinous running and maintenance costs for these models. Anyway a real treat to see this!

First thing I saw stepping out from my building for a lunchtime stroll yesterday was this stand out visitor from interstate. A sublime Atelier Ferrari 812 GTS. Blu Corsa over crema interior, painted shields and Italian flags🇮🇹

This car is actually nuts and it was a real treat to see it. Each Koenigsegg Jesko is unique but this one takes things up a notch. Firstly, the Koenigsegg Naked Carbon (KNC) body. Only about 5 Jesko’s have this option because it is damn expensive (try $620K) and very difficult to do. This particular Jesko also features the upgraded power unit, normally found in the Absolute version (the is the Attack). So it kicks out 1,600hp and is an extra $500K. Then there is the gold leaf detailing, infused with ‘Ghost Squadron’ motifs. And of course you get all of the standard Jesko things, straight from the big brain of mad scientist Christian von Koenigsegg. Things like the Light Speed Transmission and flywheel-less engine that makes it sound and rev like a super bike, no easy feat on a twin turbo engine. So that’s what a cool $6M looks like. Oh, and another $2.5M for the plate…

I had, until recently, only managed to see 2/3 of the ‘Holy Trinity’. It took a long time to get that 3rd one in the books, so long in fact, that Ferrari and McLaren have recently released their natural successors (the F80 and W1 respectively) - no word from Porsche just yet. But I saw them all in the end and hope to catch the next generation too, hopefully in less than 10 years this time!

Vanishingly rare McLaren Speedtail. Built with one purpose in mind really-to achieve a top speed of 250mph/400kph. Loooong rear bodywork certainly helps here. Central driving position. No idea how many there are in this country, but with only 106 built worldwide, safe to say you won’t see one on the road often. Although this owner does drive this on the roads here, along with his identically spec’d McLaren F1!

Bonkers Singer DLS (Dynamic and Lightweight Study). Engine by Williams Advanced Engineering, the same folks who build the Williams F1 car and carbon…everything. Pretty demure spec for a $3M+ car
