It’s National Carers Week!

More than 750,000 Victorians provide unpaid care and support to a family member, friend or loved one.

To recognise the invaluable contribution carers make to our community, Monash has joined Carers Victoria's 'Light Up Victoria for Carers' initiative.

Alongside landmarks across the state, Monash Civic Centre is proudly illuminated in blue and red in recognition of carers and the vital role they play.

Free community support session for family and friends affected by addiction

Family members, carers, and friends play an important role in supporting a loved one experiencing addiction but can face challenges of their own.

In partnership with Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC) we are running a free community harm prevention session for those supporting someone affected by addiction or substance misuse.

Participants will learn ways to:

👉Support their own wellbeing
👉Set healthy boundaries
👉Respond to challenging situations
👉Connect with others who share similar experiences.

The session supports our commitment to preventing harm associated with alcohol, gambling and other harmful industries, by building understanding, reducing isolation and increasing awareness of available support services.

Registration is essential. 18+ years. Light refreshments will be provided.
