POSTS STORIES REELS

The New Real (Original Soundtrack) is finally out!
The soundtrack is now available to stream on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, iTunes and other streaming platforms.

Dive into the sound world I created for David Edgar’s epic political play The New Real, directed by Holly Race Roughan for the Royal Shakespeare Company @thersc in association with Headlong @headlongtheatre

Premiering at The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon, the production explored a world reshaped by epoch-defining elections on both sides of the Atlantic.

Blending electronic textures with atmospheric sound design, the soundtrack reflects the play’s shifting political landscapes, human tensions, and emotional undercurrents. Originally created to accompany the drama on stage, these compositions also stand alone as an immersive journey through uncertainty, change, underlying tensions, and the complexities of our contemporary world.

I hope you can experience these pieces as a journey in their own right.

Listen now via the link in my bio.

And don’t miss the two extra tracks I was commissioned to create for the play, both available on my SoundCloud:
🎶 Sunshine’s Call — the Eurovision entry song, composed to David Edgar’s lyrics.
🎶 Angel of the Nation — the national anthem of Straninka, the fictional Eastern European country where the events of the play take place.

Hello Reading Festival 2026 @officialrandl @bbcradio1 by @monikadalachsayers

Feeling stoked out in the ocean at Aljezur. After many wipeouts, I finally caught my first wave half-standing 🌊 A little practice, a lot of falls, and plenty of resilience. Till the next time 🏄‍♀️

Dressed to Kill (2025) performed by Decoder Ensemble @decoder.ensemble as part of ‘Future Recognition’ project at the Hamburg International Music Festival @elbphilharmonie with support from the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung @evs_musikstiftung Hamburgische Kulturstiftung and the Ligeti Zentrum @ligetizentrum

‘Dressed to Kill’ is a multimedia composition by Monika Dalach Sayers that spotlights the fast-fashion industry’s cycle of rapid production and short-lived consumption. Built on the “take–use–bin” model, where desire is manufactured, worn briefly, and discarded, encourages compulsive buying and growing waste. Blending electronic textures, live instruments, performative elements and vivid imagery, the piece explores our obsession with new trends and objects through a fast-paced and dynamic performance inspired by noisy polluted soundscapes, ASMR, and the seductive language of advertising.

Japan diaries pt. II 🇯🇵 Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka - Nara - Hiroshima

Throwback to the most extraordinary 3 weeks (!) I spent in beautiful Japan being a curious tourist, never getting enough of delicious food and drink, remarkable architecture and hospitality. Love this place and I hope to come back some time in the future.

I’m delighted to share clips from the premiere of 'Plastiglomerate' at Ensemble(s) Festival (@festival.ensembles ) in Paris, September 2025.

‘Plastiglomerate’ was developed as part of the Legato International Development Programme, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been one of six artists selected for this opportunity. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful musicians who helped bring this work to life, and mentors Laura Bowler @ljbcomposer and Jérôme Combier for their invaluable guidance.

The work takes its title from a hybrid rock formed when melted plastic fuses with natural materials like sand and shingle — a striking symbol of how human activity and nature have become inseparable.

I explored this idea through sound — recording both organic and man-made materials (stones, plastics, found objects) and transforming them into electronic textures that merged with the live performance.

In creating this electroacoustic work, the tactile experience of touching these objects, experimenting with how their sounds transformed across different acoustic spaces, and how these recordings were later processed and shaped into electronic layers, became central to the process, forming a dialogue between the tangible and the digital, the natural and the artificial.

Performed by musicians from Ensemble 2e2m, Cairn, Court-circuit, Multilatérale & Sillages:
Jean Deroyer (cond.) | Cédric Jullion (fl.) | Bogdan Sydorenko (cl.) | Maroussia Gentet (pno.) | Alexandra Greffin-Klein (vln.) | Ingrid Schoenlaub (vc.)

Special thanks to @cmcireland and @newmusicdublin @soundfestival where this piece was also performed. by @monikadalachsayers
