I never planned on becoming a horror film director.

For years, I was a minister. I believed that was the path my life would always take, because I was told I was, “called of God”.

Then life unraveled.

I started asking questions I was afraid to ask. I left the only world I’d ever known, came out later in life, and somehow found my way behind a camera telling stories about identity, fear, trauma, and what it means to become yourself.

Turns out... horror isn’t always about monsters.

Sometimes it’s about the stories we’re told.
The lives we’re expected to live.
And the courage it takes to walk away.

When you are creating something from scratch, it takes soooooo much more energy. Some days we don’t wanna, but we always pick each other up.
Having an independent production company, meetings for your film, and meetings for your upcoming event ain’t easy… but TOGETHER… we’ve got this!

We hope that pulling the curtain back and showing the reality of this independent producers life gives you hope. Some days it’s not easy, but you CAN do it.

I genuinely wanted to follow God.

I wasn’t trying to rebel.

I was trying to understand why I felt the way I did.

This conversation stayed with me for years because it was one of the first moments where I realized the answer I was being given didn’t actually answer the question.

Every film starts long before the camera rolls.

For me, it starts with notes. Lots of notes.

Every scene gets questions, ideas, reminders, and conversations I want to have with the cast and crew. I used to cover my scripts in sticky notes, and I was constantly losing pages… now they all live inside @scriptation
