🚀 A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket takes to the skies, creating one of the most mesmerizing sights in spaceflight: the incredible Space Jellyfish.

🌌 So, how does it happen? As the rocket climbs into the upper atmosphere, sunlight catches its expanding exhaust plume while the ground below is still in darkness. The result? A massive, glowing shape that looks just like a jellyfish floating across the sky. A rare reminder of how incredible science and nature can look when they come together.

🦇 Why is New York actually called “Gotham”?

The name originally comes from England: the village of Gotham in Nottinghamshire was known in medieval times for stories about its so-called “wise fools.”

In 1807, writer Washington Irving adopted the name for his satirical magazine Salmagundi and used it for New York City — initially as a joke. New Yorkers were compared to the “Wise Men of Gotham”: seemingly foolish, but actually clever and cunning.

The nickname stuck and became an established name for New York during the 19th century.

🦇 And that’s where Batman comes in: When “Gotham City” later became Batman’s home, Gotham was already a real nickname for New S York City.

🏔️ Jenner Gipfel – Berchtesgadener Land

One of those hikes where getting up early is absolutely worth it. The trail from Hinterbrand to the Jenner summit at 1,874 m takes you through beautiful alpine meadows with spectacular views of the Königssee and Watzmann. 🥾

During our hike, we were lucky enough to experience the Almabtrieb – a traditional Bavarian celebration marking the return of the cattle from the alpine pastures to the valley at the end of summer. The animals are traditionally decorated with flowers and ornate headpieces, making it a beautiful part of alpine culture. 🐄🌸

One of my favorite spots along the route is the alpine meadow around Königsbachalm, where you can sometimes hear and spot marmots if you’re quiet and lucky.

OPATIJA TRAVEL TIP 🇭🇷

If you’re in Opatija, don’t miss a sunset cruise on the Madonnina. This traditional Croatian wooden boat was built in 1983 and lovingly restored by the owner and his father.

The tour starts in Opatija’s harbor and takes you towards Volosko, with a glass of local Malvazija in hand. Along the way, the captain shares stories about the coastline while you enjoy the views and sunset over the Adriatic.

For us, it was such a special evening and definitely one to add to your Opatija bucket list.

On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four passenger planes. Two were flown into the World Trade Center towers, one hit the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day, and the world changed forever. 🇺🇸🕊️

I was 16 years old at the time and watched everything unfold on television in complete disbelief. Now, 25 years later, I stood there myself, between the two enormous reflecting pools, exactly where the Twin Towers once stood. At the 9/11 Memorial Museum, the stories, photographs, and personal belongings of the victims and survivors are preserved.✨

Every year on September 11, the Oculus is illuminated in red, white and blue in remembrance. During the day, sunlight shines through its skylight, creating the beautiful “Wedge of Light”, a phenomenon designed around the sun’s position between 8:46 and 10:28 AM, marking the key moments of the attacks.

White roses are placed beside the names of those who would have celebrated a birthday that day. A small but incredibly personal gesture, reminding us that behind every name was a person, a life and a story.🌹

Being there and walking through the museum was incredibly emotional. Suddenly, September 11 was no longer just something I remembered from television. It felt real, tangible and deeply personal. A place that stays with you, and one I would absolutely recommend visiting if you ever get the chance.

New York remembered those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

For the families who lost someone.
For the survivors who carry the memories.
For the heroes who never stopped fighting.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🕊️🇺🇸

And this beautiful tribute will continue on September 11, when New York once again lights up the sky as part of the official 9/11 remembrance ceremonies.

80 summers. That’s one of the wildest reminders of how short life really is. ☀️

So if you’ve been thinking about Crete, go. June is warm, sunny and still quieter than the peak summer months, with around 26–29°C and beautiful beach weather.

🏖️ Our tip: Visit in early June for warm days, fewer crowds and long summer evenings. Don’t wait for the “perfect time” to live a little.

🏔️ Grünstein (1,304 m) – Berchtesgaden Region

A short but rewarding hike with fantastic views of the Watzmann and the turquoise Königssee. The trail is technically straightforward but quite steep in places, offering authentic mountain vibes without taking on one of the region’s biggest climbs – a great choice for an active day in the mountains. 🥾

Tour Details:
📍 Start: Hammerstiel Parking Lot (€6)
✅ approx. 5.5 km
✅ 500 m elevation gain
✅ approx. 2.5 hours
✅ Good fitness required
🍰🍺 Grünstein Hut

Difficulty: Easy to moderate – blue hiking trail.
