You’ll usually find me covered in silicone, plaster or clay and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of the most important things to me is making sure my actor feels safe and comfortable throughout the entire lifecasting process.

During a lifecast, the actor can’t talk, can’t move, can’t make facial expressions, and can’t breathe through their mouth. Their face is completely covered with different materials, so it’s my responsibility to make sure they’re okay, breathing comfortably, and feeling safe from beginning to end.

That’s why one of the most important parts of lifecasting starts before I even apply the first material.

I always take the time to explain exactly what’s going to happen, which materials I’ll be using, and roughly how long the process will take. Before we begin, we also agree on an emergency signal. If they give that signal, I immediately stop, remove all the materials, and end the process. It could be raising a hand, gently tapping my leg with their foot, or any other signal we decide on together.

Once the lifecasting begins, I keep checking in with them throughout the process to make sure they’re doing okay. I also make sure they always have a clear way to breathe through their nose. And when the lifecast is finished, I cover their eyes for a few moments. After spending a long time with their eyes closed in complete darkness, I want to give them a chance to adjust gradually to the light outside.

If you have any other tips or hacks for making lifecasting even safer, share them in the comments! Let’s build one huge collection of safety tips together!

I always had a special connection to books. That’s why I decided to create this cinematic character- “The Ink-Corrupted Poet”. She is a character I imagined and brought to life, with handmade props, dress, and sfx makeup I created. The story is about a poet who wrote her own biography book. One day, the ink started to crumble and while she was writing, it started to take over her body. Through her writing hand, the ink got into her blood. Her vains, her ears, nose, mouth and even one of her eyes. The ink became a monster that is in the process of taking over her body. This is the story behind this character.

MATERIALS: Her dress is hand made from liquid latex, and tissue papers, Colored with acrylic paints. The body of the monster was sculpted with clay, eyes and teeth from polymorph, painted with acrylic.
For the vains I used silicone & wool , combined with my drawings, All hand made by me. taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @monliz_fx

🎨 Hi, I’m MON LIZ a multidisciplinary artist with a growing passion for creature effects, prosthetics, sculpting, and practical effects for film.

Through makeup, sculpture, costumes, and hands on experimentation with different materials, I explore the process of bringing imagined characters and creatures into the physical world. I'm currently developing my skills in creature creation, mold making, casting, fabrication, and special makeup effects while building my portfolio and learning from industry professionals.

My goal is to grow within a professional workshop environment and eventually become a Creature Effects and Prosthetics Artist for film and television. I am actively seeking opportunities as a trainee, workshop assistant, fabrication assistant, or prosthetics assistant, where I can learn, contribute, and gain real-world experience alongside experienced artists.

Feel free to reach out via DM @monliz_fx or by email and I’ll send you my portfolio.

Custom Vampire Fangs 🦷 Sculpted Directly for the actor.
Every mouth is different, which is why I prefer creating custom fangs tailored to the performer’s unique dental structure rather than relying on generic pieces.

In the second image, I’m sculpting and shaping the fang directly on the actor’s tooth, carefully adapting the form, length, and fit to their anatomy.

The first image shows the final result: a comfortable, character-driven set of vampire fangs designed to integrate naturally with the actor’s smile while maintaining a cinematic silhouette.

The heart he holds is also a creation by me, made from plaster coloured with acrylic paints & sfx blood.🩸

I truly believe that a big part of my projects success is my organised studio. After every project, I’m cleaning around and organising all my tools and materials from start to finish. It helps me create a clean space in my head for creation. I learned it’s saves time, prevents mistakes, and makes everything run more smoothly. by @monliz_fx

Custom dental appliance fabrication based on a life-cast of my own dentition. 🦷 For this project, I started by taking a dental impression of my own teeth. Then produced a plaster positive to create an accurate working model. Using the cast as a foundation, I designed and fabricated a pair of custom vampire fangs tailored specifically to my dental anatomy.

The goal was not only aesthetics, but also comfort, stability, and a natural integration with the existing dentition. Working from a precise replica of the teeth allows for a much more convincing fit than generic costume fangs and provides a workflow similar to professional creature and character FX fabrication.

skills that continue to inspire my journey into prosthetics, creature creation, and special makeup effects.
