The completion of the lime render installation on this finely detailed 200 year old building marks the end of a hugely technical but equally rewarding large scale project in Portsmouth. For months we’ve been visiting to install specialist finishes such as stucco trowel and sponged Monocouche, trowelled lime and raised plinth, pilaster and band detailing. We also replaced the decayed ornate front entrance cornice with an exact lightweight replica. The fire remediation train keeps rolling in sunny Barry as we work clockwise around the eleven block waterfront site. Six blocks now fully stripped of the existing system, comprehensive Helifix movement control installed and finished with Monocouche XF. Slowly but surely some very special finishes are being applied and prepared for in sunny Portsmouth. The first areas of trowelled stucco finish Monocouche XF are complete to enable scaffold adaption and we’re in the process of applying traditional sponge finish to the shaded rear elevations. Nestled in the rolling Caerphilly valleys we hand over the first plot of the first phase of new housing being expertly constructed by Cosgrove Construction. I have to mention, the entire experience from specification to pre start and delivery has been so positive and the site team have been a breath of fresh air. We attend the week before the plots are ready to carry out a pre start check, all the minor plots are addressed immediately and we’re good to go. It doesn’t have to be hard work and working together and dare I say it really enjoying the collaboration always harvests the best results for everyone.
