Two intense days at SALA listening to engaging conversations with novelists, journalists, scientists & thinkers across the South Asian diaspora all advocating for respect and compassion for stories across all borders. Appreciated that. Pictured here with the inspiring Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi who has created a movement using compassion as an agent for social transformation. by @mononawali

Inspiring celebration of artist and community builder Ben Caldwell this morning in Leimert Park. They've named a square in his honor! I know Ben from UCLA Film School and LA Rebellion. He's built a powerful community through his Kaos Network - bringing in kids and adults to participate in making art and culture and transforming Leimert Park. Many moving testimonials of how he's impact so many lives. A true visionary and cultural hero! by @mononawali

David Byrne's concert at Hollywood Bowl last night was soul food - so uplifting, joyous, visually compelling, and of course a treat to hear his great songs. He's playing again tonight - go if you can! by @mononawali

At Mercado Paloma came across this community Día de los Muertos offering. So sweetly surprised to see Amy Halpern’s photo at the top. Wonderful filmmaker, cinematographer and film school compatriot. She shot “Grey Area” for me. Left too soon. by @mononawali
