If commitment, loyalty, and readiness had a face, it would look a lot like @montaee.b Montae Burgess. The Lake City High School product has quietly bided his time at South Carolina State, waiting for the moment when his number would be called and over the past two weeks, he’s answered in a big way.

Two Saturdays ago, Burgess made the game-winning grab against Wofford. Last weekend, facing a nationally ranked South Carolina squad, he hauled in several clutch receptions, proving he’s more than ready for the spotlight. Some fans might remember him wearing No. 83, but this season he’s donning No. 7 and embracing a new role as a bona fide playmaker.

Known for his speed, Burgess has spent the past three seasons carving out a place on special teams while keeping a positive attitude and an unwavering work ethic. In an era where the transfer portal tempts players to leave when opportunities seem scarce, he stayed the course. That patience is paying off, as he’s now becoming a dependable target in the Bulldogs’ passing game.

From special-teams contributor to reliable receiver, Burgess’ rise is a testament to perseverance and belief in the process. If he continues this upward trajectory, he could etch his name among the MEAC’s top wideouts and become one of South Carolina State’s next great success stories. #SCSU #BulldogReport #7 #TrustTheProcess #LakeCity 🔵🐶🔴 by @montaee.b
