Coach’s Notes (HS BOYS SIDE) - October 11th 2026
The Griffins battled through the rain in Lancaster on Sunday and put together a strong day of rugby. The boys opened with big win over
Gregory the Great Academy, followed by a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Elizabethtown in the final minute. They then faced a talented Greenwich I side before closing the day against Wilmington United.
Trailing 5-0, on the final play of the match, the boys showed incredible heart and determination with Stefano Propato scoring in the closing seconds to secure a tie. Our Man of the Tournament goes out to Connor McMillan for his outstanding work ethic, field vision, defensive effort, and leadership on the field. We’re back in action as we prepare to tackle this weekend at Delaware County tournament! by @montbucksrfc

Coach’s Notes (HS GIRLS SIDE) - October 11th 2026
On another wet and sloppy Sunday, the Montgomery Bucks U19 High School Girls Griffins joined forces with West Chester and Delco to compete in the third PA Rugby Fall 7s
tournament at the Doylestown Rugby Club field. Facing the day’s toughest schedule, the motley crew fought hard and never gave up despite not securing a win. While play initially mirrored performance from the previous tournament, the challenging weather conditions required the team to adapt its strategy. The tactical adjustments paid off in the latter half of the day.
resulting in close-fought matches against Doylestown and
Berks County following earlier losses to Downingtown and additional Doylestown sides.
Harlie was named the hardest-working team member, demonstrating growing proficiency at scrumhalf and scoring for her second consecutive tournament. Team Captain Emma Ryan anchored the squad in the grueling conditions, setting the standard with her relentless work ethic and strong leadership on the pitch. Charlee in her first Tournament showed grit and sound tackling helping to shore up the defense. In the final moments of the day, Lillian set up a great ground-pop pass assist, allowing the team to finish on a high note by scoring as time expired against Berks County. by @montbucksrfc

Luckily the weather held off for Mont Bucks match with the Wilkes Barre breakers. Unfortunately, it was all defense in the first half for Mont Bucks. The breakers had pressure defense and a strong offense, outscoring Mont Bucks by a few tries by half time. Mont bucks tried to mount a comeback in the second half, putting in tries by Dr James Ford and Ethan B but the breakers goal line defense stopped a number of attempts to bring the game within reach. MotM went to Dr James for his exceptional play as Hooker and Flanker for all 80 minutes. The team had their first social of the year at Poppys Tavern, and the food and service were amazing! taken in Poppy's Tavern by @montbucksrfc
