Happy 1️⃣ year of marriage to us. One year of learning, growing, laughing, and figuring things out together. It hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been real, intentional, and worth it every single day. I’m grateful for what we’ve built so far and even more excited for what’s ahead.

For those looking for some insight, here are 10 lessons I’ve learned after year☝🏾:

1. Love is more about consistency than intensity.
Big moments are great, but it’s the small, everyday choices that build a strong marriage.

2. Communication isn’t just talking, it’s understanding.
You can say everything and still miss each other if you’re not actually listening.

3. You don’t always need to win, you need to protect the relationship.
Sometimes the goal isn’t being right, it’s being united.

4. Grace goes a long way.
Both of you will have moments where you fall short. What matters is how you respond to each other in those moments.

5. Intent matters, but impact matters more.
Learning to take accountability, even when your heart was in the right place, is part of growth.

6. Marriage will expose you… in a good way.
It forces you to grow, reflect, and become more self-aware than you’ve ever been.

7. Marriage is an permanent agreement to keep choosing each other.
Not just on the easy days, but especially on the ones that require effort.

8. Laughter is underrated.
Being able to joke, be playful, and enjoy each other keeps things light even when life isn’t.

9. Support isn’t always fixing, sometimes it’s just showing up.
You don’t need to have all the answers, just be present and consistent.

10. A strong marriage is built, not found.
It takes intention, patience, and a willingness to grow together. by @montekis_jones
