I am reminded today of the importance of rest. Frankly, it’s not something I’m good at. But, the Lord commanded Sabbath for a reason. He designed our souls and He did not design them to push hard 💯 of the time. In today’s world, it seems like nothing we do is ever enough. There is always more…to do, to buy, to accomplish, to provide, to live up to. But, we are called to remember that we can never be or do enough…and that, even more importantly, we were never asked to.

Had so much fun at lunch with my #boxwoodbreakfastclub ladies yesterday at @ouisies_table! 🍽️

We had such an interesting and vulnerable conversation as moms who balance home life with running a business, volunteering, helping with a startup, working in the corporate world and ALL of the other things we all do. It was such a sweet time together as we learned about all of the ways that @mysherah can help as a personal assistant for busy people and families! 📋

Amidst the gorgeous gemstones and sparkling diamonds and gold, running your own jewelry design company is anything BUT easy and stress-free! And I treasure the friendships with women who understand, give grace AND encourage me as I go. I love you ladies! ♥️ taken in Ousies Table by @montgomery

We serve this hot apple cider at all of our holiday parties, starting in October! It is fantastic on its own or with a little kick. (We use a little splash of bourbon sometimes!) 🥃

People always ask me for the recipe, so I wanted to share it with y’all, in case you’re in need of a cozy drink this fall! 🍎

Ingredients:

4 1/2 cups apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon orange juice
3 whole cloves
1 star anise
Optional sugar, to rim the glass

Instructions:

Place the apple cider, cinnamon stick, orange juice, cloves and star anise in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer for 5-10 more minutes. Remove from heat and strain into a pitcher.

Add a splash of bourbon to taste if you’d like. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for flair. Enjoy!

Sometimes a dose of happiness is found in the smallest things. ✨ This morning, it was a warm cup of morning matcha in a mug that is an old favorite as I made the most of a lovely bunch of pink peonies that my husband gave me for my birthday, though they are nearing their last days. 💕 by @montgomery

I had the sweet opportunity to visit with friends at the new @abdallahs_lebanese_cafe Heights location! A Houston staple, the 34 year old restaurant relocated to a new (super convenient) location off of i10! Owned by the mother of my sweet friend Rita - we go wayyy back, all the way to Saint Agnes high school!- walking into their restaurant is like walking into their mother’s kitchen. So warm and welcoming with clean and delicious Mediterranean food! Their family has such a special story of entrepreneurship- you can even purchase @oldcountryoliveoil grown on their family farm in Lebanon that they cold press immediately after harvesting and bring home to Houston! That’s a wrap on our POLL Minors season - and what a fun one it was! I absolutely LOVE watching this boy play baseball. He’s ALL heart out there and I am so proud of him.
