🎭Theatre by Development is officially Philly Inquirer's - Philly's Favorite Theatre Company for 2025!!⭐️

TBD is an independent theatre production company that comes from a need to constantly create and consume the art we want to be experiencing. We were *officially* founded just last year in 2024, although this passion and drive has been pushing Monti, Andrew, and Lindsey towards new work since their time at the University of the Arts (Class of 2022).

Being a new and independent theater company, we do not use big budgets, have flashy sets or costumes-- We work on a "pay what you can" system with a "trash to treasure" mentality to produce new stories and new work by new artists. Monthly workshops help our writers develop new ideas, push themselves towards growth, and reach new audiences. From our workshops, we cultivate scripts created by new voices, culminating in larger-scope productions featuring up and coming creative talent in Philly. In 2024 we presented three TBD productions as well as associate produced other ventures with some of our favorite collaborators!

This win means so much to TBD, the theatre community, and the city itself. It was truly an honor to be nominated in the first place among historic and well established theater company's like other our Philly Faves winners, the Arden & Walnut!

To every audience member, to every artist, to every donation, to everyone who saw or heard about TBD and supports us: THANK YOU. Thank you for supporting truly new work and new artists by @monti.cerabino

Hi Instagram friends, its been a while.

Since I last posted in 2019 I met life long friends and collaborators, fell in love, got a BFA at a school that changed me as an artist and human being, and started a Theatre Company called @theatrebydevelopment with @adrwmiq & @sllvrvlvt.

I really don’t post much cause social media makes me feel rather overwhelmed but I really want to share something with everyone on here.

Tickets are on sale for our first Philly Fringe piece debuts on September 19th and will run till September 29th.

A dark and experimental comedy written by Amir-Gabriel Gad (@mirmulmir), CALVIN BARROWS follows a group of twenty-somethings celebrating the one-month anniversary of their friend Calvin’s coma. As the night progresses, Calvin’s magic eight ball makes relationships strain, bloom, bend, and break. The mad mishmash living room comedy, directed by Monti Cerabino, explores memory, obsession, and secrets.

It would mean the world to see you there. Tickets are in my bio.

If you can’t make it but want to support, we have an indiegogo that is funding the production in tandem with fundraisers and ticket sales. There’s also a link in my bio as well! (Not tagged cause Instagram sucks is @tara_cunniffe_design, @lucy.pi200, & and Siobhan Ehresmann who are on the design team of Calvin Barrows, & @robert0delgad0, @maxsegarnick @christinedijoseph @_maddie.jane_ from the original cast of POOT)

Hopefully I’ll post again before 2029. by @monti.cerabino

A little late but, I’m officially done with my Freshman Year of college! I’m 1/4 of the way to a BFA in Directing, Playwriting, and Production and truly couldn’t be happier. This has been a formative year with such talented and lovely people. From the DPP class of 2022, to my amazing roommates, to the phenomenal faculty, to the mulch crew, to all the production teams I’ve had the privilege to work on, I couldn’t be surrounded by more brilliant and generous humans. I can’t wait for the rest of my three years with y’all! by @monti.cerabino

I am so proud of this incredible group of people and the beautifully absurd truth they have found in Bertolt Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle. If you have the chance, come see the show! Its in Meyer hall, playing this weekend on Saturday at 2 and 7 and Sunday at 2. If you can’t make those dates, we’re having the same times next week along with a Friday evening show at 7. I am so grateful for the past month and half and all the wonderful artists I got to share it with ♥️ by @monti.cerabino

Hey all! Don't settle for subpar, vote Monti and Marr! But seriously we'd really appreciate your support in this election so we can be your voices in SGA meetings as your Corresponding Secretaries. So vote for us and we'll give you a brighter future at DSOA. by @monti.cerabino

Thank you everyone for coming out to celebrate you fellow students love and joys at Shift Club's first event! Follow @shiftclub for updates on whats to come :) - The Shift Crew by @monti.cerabino

So I don't usually do this but, y'all should come out during Lunch tomorrow to this event that I've put together. Recently @marrkaimakliotis and I decided to start a club aimed at connecting the arts at Dreyfoos through collaborative events. This is Shift's first event. There will be a few bands playing with art from the visual and digital departments surrounding them. It will be in between the cafeteria and Building 7. I hope to see everyone there! :) by @monti.cerabino

Hey! Everyone should come out to Dreyfoos to see Romeo & Juliet! We open on Friday the 30th of October and will run that weekend and the following one. I promise you'll love it! by @monti.cerabino
