🌈 Candlelight Vigil | Remembering, Care & Hope

On Tuesday, October 6, folks gathered at the Montrose Center for Domestic Violence Awareness Month to honor survivors and remember those we’ve lost. Candles, flowers, handwritten notes of love, and words from community leaders and advocates filled the room.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and held space for one another.

If you or someone you love needs support, our Anti-Violence Program is here for you. Learn more at our website πŸ’œ by @montrosecenter

🌈 Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Long before Houston existed, this land and its waters, including Buffalo Bayou, were cared for by the Karankawa, Coahuiltecan, and Atakapa-Ishak peoples. We’re grateful for their histories and cultures, which still shape this place today.

We also lift up Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQ+ folks, who have always been part of their communities.

Today, we invite you to pause, reflect, and honor the people who have been here all along. 🧑 by @montrosecenter

🌈 Happy National Coming Out Day!

Coming out isn't one moment. It's a hundred small ones: the first time you say it out loud, the first time you walk into a room as your whole self. Some are loud, some are quiet, and every one counts.

To the folks who came out this year, welcome. To those out for decades, thank you for showing us it was possible. And if you're not there yet, there's no deadline and no wrong way to do this.

Whenever you're ready, the Montrose Center is here. πŸ’œ by @montrosecenter

🌈 Today is World Mental Health Day. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it by yourself.

For a lot of LGBTQ+ folks, taking care of your mental health can feel like one more thing on the list. The Montrose Center has counselors who get it, support groups where you don’t have to explain yourself, and a Client Connection Team that will help you figure out where to start.

Whether you’re in a good place, a hard place, or somewhere in between, checking in with yourself counts. So does checking in on the people you love.

If you or someone you know could use support, our counseling team is here. Call 713-529-0037 during business hours or visit our website πŸ’œ by @montrosecenter
