🗺️ 🖼️ I’m incredibly honored to have been selected for the award winning Latino cARTographies project by @latinocart_uhcmals, with my work now featured throughout the greater Houston area!
.
Being Latino means so many things to me, and I’m so proud to be part of a project that beautifully catalogs the work of local creatives in such an animated interactive way. The four projects of mine that are featured aren’t just my best work—they’re the pieces that resonate most with my values and spirit. For me, illustration is more than just world-building; it’s about connecting with people on a deeper level.

This installation serves as a time capsule, a Time Machine, and a love letter to Houston’s LGBTQ+ community. Artist Angel Albarran shares, “The idea for ‘A Convergence of Eras’ sparked when I saw a photo of Ray Hill holding a teacup, and my immediate thought was, ‘Of coooourse!! Gay people love brunch!’ That whimsical connection launched a larger exploration of what it would be like to meet our heroes across time.”

Have you seen this recent 🗣️ AI GENERATED slop located in midtown? The ethical implications of choosing an ai generated design for a wrap that's supposed to represent arts and humanities is embarrassing. Ai steals art by using web crawlers to scrape billions of COPYRIGHTED images from the Internet without the creators consent, credit, or compensation, feeding them into algorithms to train models that directly compete with the original artists.
.
Ai obviously isn't going anywhere, but we have to get better about setting regulations for AI in civic spaces especially if there is money involved.
