🟡 HELLO EVERYONE! I’m Rebecca Bird, founder and editor of Montserrat Focus. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and express my heartfelt thanks for your ongoing support.

I was born and educated in the UK, but my love of the Caribbean, its beauty, people and vibrant culture inspired me to relocate. For nearly two decades now, I have worked as a journalist and editor on some of the region’s leading publications.

I’ve been so fortunate to make my home in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, which has given me a deep appreciation for the region and its unique stories. I’ve also had the privilege of bringing Caribbean news to the international stage as a freelance writer for The Guardian.

In February 2024, I established Montserrat Focus because of my genuine love for Montserrat and its people, and a desire to bring an entirely independent, dedicated online news source to the island. I believe in the power of local journalism to reflect the true needs of the community. My goal is simple: to deliver news that matters to Montserrat, spotlight key issues, and hold ALL governing authorities to account.

I’m excited to continue bringing you the news that matters most, and I encourage you to get in touch if you have a story that might interest our readers. If you’d like to help support the website, we also offer sponsorship and advertising opportunities. Thank you for being part of the Montserrat Focus community!

Feel free to reach out to me on montserratfocus@gmail.com or WhatsApp +44 7453 809576.

I very rarely get the chance to switch off so getting some down time and heading to @blyssdayspa in Montserrat was a much needed treat. Lauretta was a gem and really took her time, I felt like a new woman afterwards! Can’t wait to go back 🫶🏾
