We believe that national monuments should honor the untold stories of communities, experiences, and places. A program of @conservationlands.

Monuments For All has a new look, but our mission remains the same: To safeguard the sacred lands and wild lands that honor the untold stories of communities, experiences, and places.

Our new logo reflects our mission with a speech bubble design that serves as a reminder that protecting national monuments isn’t just about land, it’s about the people connected to these places. Paired with a subtle mountain scene, the logo also acknowledges the beautiful landscapes that Monuments For All fights to protect.

For 119 years, the Antiquities Act has given presidents the power to preserve treasured public lands and waters across the United States for generations to come.

Since 1906, eighteen presidents (nine Democrat and nine Republican) have used the Antiquities act to designate over 160 national monuments that protect diverse ecosystems and contribute to the ongoing, and often untold, stories and history of the United States.

🚨 Unfortunately, the Antiquities Act is currently under threat! In January 2025, the Ending Presidential Overreach on Public Lands Act was introduced in Congress, which aims to dismantle the Antiquities Act by removing a president's ability to designate new national monuments.

📋 We must show our representatives that Americans value their national monuments. Visit monumentsforall.org/action to urge your members of Congress to oppose this shortsighted and widely unpopular bill.

Keep speaking up for Bears Ears National Monument in Utah! 📣

The Trump administration illegally and drastically shrunk Bears Ears National Monument by over 90%. The reduction stripped protections for an interconnected Indigenous homeland that has been stewarded by Native Americans since time immemorial.

This reduction also leaves wildlife habitats, animals, clean water, and outdoor recreation access at immediate risk and undermines years of collaborative work between the Tribal Nations of the Bears Ears Commission and federal land managers.

🚨 SPEAK UP: Contact your members of Congress to urge them to publicly denounce the administration's reduction of both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah and to send a letter of opposition to @potus. Click the link in our bio or visit monumentsforall.org/monuments

Some of the country's most well-known national parks were originally designated as national monuments using the Antiquities Act.

The long list of national parks that started off as national monuments includes Acadia National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Glacier Bay National Park, and Zion National Park. As of this month, Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona is only one step away from becoming a national park!

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!

Since time immemorial, Indigenous peoples have cared for public lands, including national monuments — and they still do today. Many of our national monuments exist because Native Nations led the way in protecting them.

Today and every day, we honor that leadership and join Native Nations in working to protect their ancestral homelands for generations to come. 🧡

📍 Chuckwalla National Monument, California — the traditional homelands of the Iviatim (Cahuilla), Nüwü (Chemehuevi), Pipa Aha Macav (Mohave), Kwatsáan (Quechan), Maara’yam and Marringayam (Serrano), and other Indigenous peoples. Many Native Nations led the effort to create the Chuckwalla National Monument, alongside local desert communities. Today, the Chuckwalla National Monument Intertribal Commission ensures that Tribal values, expertise, cultural heritage, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge are incorporated into the management of the monument.

A new article from @audubonsociety breaks down the significance of national monuments to protecting bird populations across North America.

Since 1970, habitat loss has contributed to the loss of millions of birds in North America, so conserving vast landscapes like national monuments protects the places our bird populations need most to survive. Plus, healthy bird habitat is directly linked to benefits for our communities, such as climate resilience and soil fertility.
