Let’s talk about Haitian Kreyòl through an intimate conversation on its impact on culture, memory, and legacy.

Haitian Kreyòl is a language we feel; a language that carries memory, humor, history, spirituality, intimacy, and the particular ways Haitians make sense of their world.

In honor of Kreyòl Month, join us for an intimate conversation exploring the structure, beauty, and poetry of Haitian Kreyòl. Over tea and coffee, we will consider the language beyond grammar and vocabulary: its rhythms and expressions, its layered meanings, its oral traditions, and the ways it gives shape to Haitian identity, and cultural memory.

Moderated by Nathalie Jean-Baptiste, the conversation brings together Monvelyno Alexis, Franck H Godefroy, and Royce Clément for a thoughtful exchange on the language’s architecture and its artistry. Together, they will explore a worldview of the language.

This is an invitation to slow down and consider what our language reveals about who we are, where we come from, and how we continue to carry Haiti with us. Come sit with us. Bring your Kreyòl, your questions, your memories, and your stories.
