I’ve made the tough decision to shut down Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band @mooncakeband

It’s been an amazing run. We achieved so much in less than a year, from two radio hits to some truly unforgettable concerts. The feeling of playing live is incredible, but the reality behind the scenes is different.

For now, I simply don't have the resources to manage a band, and I need to step back to focus on my personal life.

That said, I know I can't stop making music. I'll still be writing and releasing songs, and I'll be sharing details about my new project soon.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and showed up to the gigs! Please keep listening to the band's tracks, and stay tuned for the next chapter.

Taya Croft is amazing at cello and violin. And she is a wonderful vocalist too. We're also telling her she should try stand up comedy cause she's good at it either, but she just replies 'Meh, not my thing.' all the time 🎻💥

Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band's new three-language single Renewal is out!

Renewal (also released in Latvian as Atjaunošana and Lithuanian as Atsinaujinimas) is an ambitious trilingual single by Latvian shoehaze band Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band that offers a humorous, ironic take on midlife crisis and forced reinvention.

Musically, the track features a unique cinematic and noir atmosphere, blending the band's dense, multi-layered rock style with the rich textures of guest Brazilian bass clarinetist Jussan Cluxnei.

The single will make its live debut shortly after during the band's August 22 performance at the @lemmy_music_club club in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Following a successful rotation on Lithuania's main alternative radio station, LRT OPUS, with the track The Lake / Ezers, Latvian indie band Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band returns with a bold experiment – our first single released simultaneously in three languages: English (Renewal), Latvian (Atjaunošana), and Lithuanian (Atsinaujinimas).

The single will become available on all streaming platforms on August 14th, 2026.

The new material can be heard live on August 22nd at the Kaunas club @lemmy_music_club, where the band will perform alongside the local act @judu_the_band

We’ve expanded our sonic palette by moving away from the saxophone and introducing a second guitar to deepen our sound. We are thrilled to welcome Endijs Ramāns on guitar.

On top of that, Taya Croft has traded her cello for the violin.

The 2026 lineup of Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band includes:

Marija Smirnova — vocals
Anton "Jupiter" Skultans-Marchenko — vocals, guitar
Andrejs Miglāns — bass guitar
Endijs Ramāns — guitar
Taya Croft — violin, cello, vocals
Kirill Arsenyev — drums

"This is a completely new iteration of our sound," says the band's leader Anton "Jupiter" Skultans-Marchenko. "It’s more expansive, delicate, and deeply melodic: a truly cosmic experience that unfolds gradually. In fact, it’s much closer to the essence of shoehaze. Come experience our new lineup live on August 22nd at the 'Lemmy' club in Kaunas!"

We're a five-piece band now. Not saying that it's forever. Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band is all about experimentation and occasionally bumping into something interesting. We are looking for the sixth member, but let that quest be a thing of its own: a sax, a flute, a clarinet, a bassoon, or something entirely different. What matters is the click between all of us that channels into something magical. And while we're searching, the incredibly talented @taya.croft has transitioned from cello to fiddle. Who knows, maybe that's how we are actually meant to sound?

KAUNAS! Get ready for a massive night of shoegaze, post-punk, and sonic experimentation! 🇱🇹

Two incredible bands are coming together for an unforgettable, loud, and atmospheric show at @lemmy_music_club

Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band (LV) @mooncakeband

Bringing their signature "shoehaze" straight from Riga, this six-piece ensemble delivers a dense, layered collision of blues rock, punk, jazz, shoegaze, and baroque-pop textures, powerfully anchored by cello and saxophone. Founded by frontman Anton Marchenko, the band channels the wall-of-sound energy of My Bloody Valentine combined with the grit of The Stooges, the melancholy of The Smiths, and the theatricality of Florence + The Machine. They will be bringing the heat from their debut album Forced Fun For The Just OK Life, alongside their latest radio-charting singles "Hroma Zirgs/Catch Me Now" and "The Lake / Ezers" (currently getting airplay on LRT OPUS).

Judu (LT) @judu_the_band

Sharing the stage are Vilnius-based experimental rock and post-punk innovators, Judu. Formed in 2020, they expertly blend atmospheric shoegaze, noise rock, and post-rock into a massive live experience. Prepare for a deep dive into sonic experimentation, featuring heavily layered electric guitars, raw feedback, hypnotic hums, and unexpected musical textures.

Date: August 22 (22.08)
Venue: Lemmy Music Club (Girstupio g. 1, Kaunas, Lithuania)
Doors (Baras): 18:00
Live Music (Koncertas): 20:00
