‘twas a coffee, donuts, and emily henry kind of morning 💖 my eldest sister is visiting for the summer and since the sister trio is complete, i convinced them it’d be fun if each of us read an emily henry lol (@wthluvmeg be proud of me!) my eldest sister is reading people we meet on vacation (and is already more than halfway so i think she’s enjoying it!). sister #2 is reading beach read (which i’ve told them made me cry) and keeps forgetting to use the bookmark i gave her 😅. and i’m reading book lovers! finally! 80+ pages in and i can honestly say emily henry is one of the only authors that can make me genuinely and consistently laugh out loud while simultaneously making me emotional 🥲 i’m gonna make them give me reviews so i can do a cute sister reading update post (i know you’re reading this! better have those reviews ready! 🤓🫶🏼) by @moonchildpages

all the things i made in february for my ceramics class!! (ft. some study sessions) throwing pottery and getting used to ceramics has been a fickle journey, a love hate relationship. tbh I’m not entirely used to it! but I’m more excited for what I’m making now and getting to the more creative/decorative parts of it is gonna be fun! i drew a lil comic about the process of learning how to throw a cylinder… maybe I’ll post that soon… we shall see… by @moonchildpages

an incredibly quick glance at my 2022 🤟🏼 i’m always shocked by how many things and how much growth happens in one year. i used to think a year was such a large expanse of time when i was a kid, a stretch of endless ocean that seemed impossible to cross until you were suddenly transported to safe shores. but i never really thought about years as i was living them: the ending of one year and the starting of another was a concept i never bothered with, busy with other more interesting childhood wonders. now, i always somehow feel melancholic at the end of each year. something about the passage of time that makes me want to pause and live in certain moments and memories. and i suppose that’s what happens when we age, we feel painfully mortal. and yet, though definitely ample with trials (and, of course, my signature copious amounts of overthinking and anxiety), the ending of 2022 has not filled me with my now normal melancholic mood in which i end each year. looking back on 2022, i see an array of beginnings, but most notably: i feel proud of myself for finishing my first semester of college. anyone close to me knows i haven’t been in a consistent academic environment for YEARS, so attending college in the fall filled me w anxiety and fear of failure and embarrassment. but then i was there. making art. watching other ppl make art. participating in discussions despite my heart hammering in my chest. and instead of failure and embarrassment, i was being encouraged and complimented by professors and peers for my work, ppl who to my surprise genuinely valued what i had to say. i got increasingly better at writing and drawing and voicing my opinions in class. and i’m proud of myself for making it across the ocean with all As and a 4.0 GPA (alhumdullilah!) because i worked hard to get here. i feel, instead, excited to start 2023 and for the growth i know awaits me. inshallah they continue to be beneficial (i hope they are for you as well!) and my 2023 is spent the same way i spent my 2022: learning, reading silly manga and books that make me cry, sending unhinged messages to my family and friends, taking pictures of my cats, and making art❤️ -sofi 🌱 by @moonchildpages

⚠️ TDR SPOILERS IN THE SLIDES ⚠️ r. f. kuang has once again managed to fuck me up with her plot twists and anticipation. because that was one unbelievable rollercoaster of a book and i’m sure the last one is gonna be this but tenfold so 😃😃😃 that’s gonna be fun. it’s taken me so long to finish this book— putting it down time and again for one thing after another— and i’m happy i’m ending the year with FINALLY finishing it! anyway yeah i don’t have any actual coherent thoughts about the book right now, but enjoy some annotations because we love a book that makes us emotionally unstable 🥲 #thedragonrepublic #thepoppywarseries #rfkuang by @moonchildpages

you’re thirteen years old again, learning how to ride a bike– far later than most– and thinking i can’t i can’t i can’t for the love of god i can’t but your sister tells you you’re not even trying and you huff and roll your eyes and say of course i am but even as you feel the heat in your cheeks you know by that squirmy, uncomfortable knot in your chest, that you aren’t you’re embarrassed at failing at something you have never done before or maybe at pedaling, straining yourself, and tipping all the way to the ground just to end up scuffed and scarred and why– why weren’t you this scared of climbing trees three, four times your size when you were nine? —childhood freedoms & adult anxieties, moonchild 🌙 by @moonchildpages

#soficore is taking pictures of the sky whenever the opportunity arises, picking flowers and tucking them between the pages of my books, tucking them behind my ear. it’s always carrying a book with me even if i know i won’t take it out of my bag to read. it’s iced coffees and matchas and chais, one after the other. it’s scribbling and underlining in my books, leaving myself in the margins for someone else to happen upon when they flutter through the pages. it’s random bursts of nearly feverish creative energy, drawing and painting and drawing and painting and all i can think abt until it’s finished. it’s the same feverish burst but as messy words, line after line of unfinished poems in handheld notebooks, tucked away in my room. it’s finding pockets of nature to sit and have my own mini picnics. it’s sending unhinged and incoherent messages to my friends abt whatever i’m hyper fixated on that week. it’s watching kdramas and animes and every show and falling in love with the ‘no thoughts head empty’ characters. it’s trying new recipes and asking if you liked them. it’s annoying my cats, cuddling up beside them and falling asleep because of their warmth. it’s always wanting to play a board game. it’s always wanting to watch a movie with my sisters but not being able to pick which one. it’s journaling once every few months and remembering how much i love to. it’s wanting to watch and read each and every one of my friends’ favorites, but never having enough time. it’s the urge to write victorian love letters to every single person i love. it’s unabashed goofiness. repeat. by @moonchildpages
