Let me introduce myself as so many of you are new to my page. And to my dearest friends and returning followers from my other page(s) Hello!! (I’m now combining/merging my fashion (emily.fay.bingham 5k) & book Instagram into this page)

I’m Emily! My childhood was spent in Wisconsin catching lightning bugs, running barefoot, and trying to create a sense of normalcy in a very abusive home.

As a teenager and young adult I lived in Minnesota and South Dakota. I found Lucy Maud Montgomery and Jane Austen ~ and found joy in writing letters, reading and travel.

I moved to Utah to attend college and escape my horrific family life (majored in Interior Design) and met my husband who was born and raised here. We created a life here in Utah. Now going on 23 years. I found Islam and converted in 2023 (leaving the Mormon faith) and have found great peace as a Muslim woman.

My husband is a Chef downtown Salt Lake City. We have 5 children. We live in a small town of only 300ish people. We bought a 1945 farmhouse on some land and are slowly creating a life we love here. We hope to have a few animals and a large garden.

I’m Hunkpapa Lakota. Chief Gall Pizi is my GGG Grandfather. My GGrandmother being taken from her parents (her siblings sent to boarding schools) and sold to a white family. I am very thankful for my heritage.

I love: art, museums, history, period dramas, reading, writing letters, faith, friends, sewing, cats, nature, photography, tea, coffee, travel (I’ve been to England, Wales, PEI, Alberta, & Paris & most of the USA), cooking & baking, decorating, herbs (I’m a Certified Family Herbalist), music, roses, the color pink, antiques, sketching, Victorian & Regency Era’s, gardening, British culture, fashion, chocolate, hiking, camping, the science surrounding the paranormal, books (love: literature, romance, historical, thriller, fantasy, mystery, & non-fiction) and so much more!

Dearest Friends,

Autumn has arrived here at our cottage. It feels like time is just zipping by these past few months. I have been immersed in the paranormal world. And sharing that more on my other page @moonlightrosewhispers But I am here and enjoying the cooler moments and Autumn sunsets of October.

Our paranormal team loves to get together and craft, shop, go antique shopping, and many more things! We did get together last month and made a cloth ghost garland. I think they turned out so cute! I hung it over my sink in the kitchen. 👻👻

And I also bought some cute wood ghosts for my pink cabinet in the kitchen.

Dearest Friends,

We’ve lost a very a special woman this week. More than special. Dolly was extraordinary and an example to us all in kindness, empathy, self love and acceptance, and love.

Today I made the viral cake in honor of her that she made. I used a can of peaches. It was delicious.

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 can fruit with juice

Bake at 350 for 40 min or until “golden and bubbly”

Dearest Friends,

Time to catch up! We have not yet painted our kitchen cabinets. As many of you know, I did a post about the pain that I am in daily. It has affected a lot of my life. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and arthritis but as of yet I do not need surgery for that arthritis. I have really bad days, and I have OK days where I am able to get out and do things. But then I have to take it easy for a few days to recover. I am able to get out 1 to 2 times a week, which is really nice.

So, many of the things in our home have been put on hold. But now that summer is coming to a close, my husband can help me more with updating and doing the more difficult things that would cause me pain like painting and sanding. I still have my paint for the cabinets. They will be pink. And hopefully over the next few months we will be able to get them done! Yay!

Thank you to those who are stuck with me while I have been navigating this part of my life.🩷🩷 And I am so excited to be posting on here again!

I know I have been missing a lot on this page. And many of you have wondered where I have gone and what I’ve been up to. I am still here and doing well. It has been a very busy and crazy Summer, and I am excited for the slowing down of Autumn. And hopefully when the heat wave that we have been in all summer starts to cool down, I can start to renovate and decorate and share that with you again.

Dearest Friends,

This winter, my fireplace in my book- nook broke and stopped working. So I decided to upgrade to a different fireplace. I put it together yesterday!

I am loving how it fits the space and has an extra shelf to put a few more books in.

I posted this photo on my other page (@moonlightrosewhispers ) but wanted to share here as we have been having such a blast these last few months with our paranormal family. I have found kindred spirits with them and we have loved antiquing together, investigating together and just hanging out. It’s a great group!

Life is blessed lately! Even with the pain I deal with physically, I am able to do more and more and hope to get back into my decorating updates soon!

On our big adventure a week or so ago to antique and vintage shop, I found this picnic basket at the thrift store for $18!!

I love picnic baskets as we go on picnics a lot in the warmer months, and I can’t wait to use it! I bought another vintage picnic basket many months ago (see a previous post) and I think these two together will be perfect for our upcoming picnics!!

Dearest Friends,

This past weekend, we got together with our friend group and went antique shopping. I am so thrilled we did, as I found a new antique store to visit and came away with some really pretty things!!

This was one of my purchases. A beautiful plate lined in gold. I haven’t been able to find a definite match of the date and maker of this plate, but I absolutely love it! As many of you know, I love to do plate walls, and I knew this one would fit right in with the plate wall in my kitchen.

Dearest Friends,

I am popping in to show you the new antique lamp I just purchased from Facebook marketplace. Though I am now limited to doing most decorating and updating to our cottage, I can still add things from time to time that will bring me joy in our home.

As many of you know, our little cottage is called Moonlight Rose Cottage. And I have been on the lookout for china, tea, cups, tea pots, plates, and decor that have blue roses. And when I saw this for sale, I gasped! 💙

I decided to add it to our kitchen. And I think it will add a beautiful glow in the evening and nighttime.

I hope you all are doing well. I will try to post more. There will be more decorating posts more than fixing up our home. As you know from my last post, I cannot do anything very physical anymore.

Anyway, isn’t this light so beautiful!?!

Dearest Friends,

Much of what I have loved doing over the past year has come to halt. I have been diagnosed with some major things in my life where I am in extreme pain 24/7. It has been a very fast decline over the last few months, where I finally went in to the doctor to get relief.

I haven’t been able to live a very normal life lately because of this pain. I can’t even hardly write with a pen! Walking can be unbearable. And decorating has had to stop for awhile until I get surgery and heal.

I am okay! I just feel so bad that I haven’t been able to update here as I wish because of this pain that prevents me from updating our home all the way to somedays I cannot even cook because of the pain I’m in. I’m so behind on letter writing. Reading can be difficult even!! Wallpaper is waiting to be put up! The kitchen cupboards need to be painted! I had so many ideas for the outside!!!!! It all has to wait.

Lately, the most I can do is paranormal work. It’s only one day a week or so. My husband and I joined a paranormal group called WISPS & Advanced Paranormal Services. They are a non profit organization that help people & families who are experiencing the paranormal in their homes. And we help them for free. We had our first investigation with 4 other investigators, to help a family a week or so ago, and it was very beautiful to help this family!

I will try to post here as much as I can. Once I have surgery and am healed I can continue onwards with decorating and updating our home. Don’t give up on me here!!

Dearest Friends,

I have been loving using my pink crockpot. It has been very convenient for me as I have been suffering with a lot of pain in my right arm and left knee. I may be facing surgery for both. So, I have been keeping meals fairly simple but yummy. And the crockpot has been my go-to for this.
