#toadlillies Also known as tricyrtis formosana. They are a late summer/early fall bloomer around here. These particular plants are over 25 years old and were gifted to us from a neighbor shortly after moving in to this house. The flowers are small, but look at the amazing details. One of my favorite animated movies is Chicken Run. The farmers wife tells him “Apart from you, they’re the most stupid creatures on the planet. They don’t plot. They don’t scheme, and they are not organized” . They’re CHICKENS 🐓 “. Well the chickens are coming home to roost. Resident caretaker, @koidude79 tells me this coop will be delivered within the next few weeks. The chickens won’t arrive until the Spring. Datura. Also known as thorn apples or jimsonweed. I call it moon flower as that is when the blossoms open. The seed formation after the blooms fade is pretty fascinating (the last four pictures). A fun container plant. 🌜🧑‍🌾😎 However, care should be taken with with this plant as it is poisonous ☠️ It is sometimes called devil’s weed or hell’s bells as well 😬😱 taken in Northville Township, Michigan by @moonman501

#colocasia I’ve seen it identified as Taro as well. I call it elephant ears. This group is 2 twelve inch pots, planted in fairly large containers, on a shelf in the pond. Thank you @willow_greenhouse for the vigorous plants. They dominate this year’s pond plantings. #heavyrotation I got something I want to talk about. I am truly enjoying @madonna ‘s latest release. It’s been powering my workouts since it came out. 💪🏼 Interestingly, I was listening to a popular afternoon AM radio show here in Detroit, when the male host basically dismissed her as “ridiculous “. Echinacea ‘Fatal Attraction’ Check out the gams on this echinacea. The dark stems with an intense purple/pink flower truly stand out on the edge of our pond. I first saw this variety while visiting @oudolfgardendetroit and it was planted in eye catching waves. Meet Dorothy. My better half, @koidude79 named this lace cap hydrangea after my Mom. It was a birthday gift from my mom and dad and my mom did make a point of mentioning that she picked it out. It is called Lady in Red for its dark red stems on new growth. It may not have the big showy flowers of other hydrangeas, but it is beautiful, elegant and classy.
