Another financial literacy & crafts workshop in the books!! my heart is so full!!! ❤️‍🔥✨🌞

For those who are new here, hola!! I’m Anna Xóchitl @xochimilcuh the founder of Chicas in the Bay! 💌

I started these workshops because I grew up low-income & was raised by a single mom who lived paycheck to paycheck and struggled to get by.

Growing up, I felt ashamed of our financial circumstances. I was scared to ask questions about money, made A LOT of financial mistakes, and spent years believing investing and saving were only for people with money.

Through my own mistakes, working as a tax preparer, and teaching myself, I’ve had the privilege of learning about dinero, from taxes and investing to savings y mucho más!

Now, I want to share what I’ve learned with other Latinas and first-gen baddies in the Bay Area!! ❤️‍🔥

Because so many of us grew up without having these conversations, and I want us to have a space where we can ask questions without feeling embarrassed or behind, and figure things out together.

Financial literacy shouldn’t be a privilege, and you shouldn’t need a lot of dinero to learn how to manage it!!

A HUGE thank you to my lovely cohost Amanda, @moonsunandlove for leading our crafts and creating the cutest financial goals zine, and to @oaklandbloom for opening up your space to la comunidad!! 🥹💌

And muchísimas gracias to every chica who spent their Sunday learning, crafting, and sharing their experiences with us!! 🫶🏽🌷✨

ALSOOOO, little update!!! 👀

We’re switching things up for our upcoming workshops! Instead of scratching the surface of a bunch of financial topics, we’ll be diving deeper with more real-life examples, hands-on activities, and opportunities to actually practice what we’re learning!

Because knowing what a Roth IRA or HYSA is is one thing, but knowing how to get started??? THAT’S what I want us to walk away with!! 💸🤭

Soooo keep an eye out for upcoming workshops (east bay, San Mateo & sf)!

Poco a poco, we’re helping Bay Area Latinas & first-gen glow up financially ❤️‍🔥

We’re hosting another FREE financial literacy & crafts workshop for Latinas & first-gen on Sunday, October 18th at @oaklandbloom !! 💌💸🎨🖌️

That’s exactly why we’re creating spaces like these!

No matter where you are with your money journey, come ready to learn, ask questions, make some crafts, led by @moonsunandlove , and meet new amigas! ✨🌞

31 Días: Octubre en Tinta 🧡🌼🖋️

This is my first year participating in Inktober! I’m also practicing my Spanish, so I started 31 Días Octubre en Tinta, a month of drawings in Spanish, one for every day in October.

I’m also experimenting with new ways to share my work. This carousel was made with the Scrll app. 📱

With every drawing, I’m adding a new element or repurposing designs from earlier pieces so the whole series feels connected, like one big Día de Muertos tapestry. #inktober2026 #inktober #octubre #illustration #digitalart

Thank you for supporting 🙏🏽 I can’t wait to make prints and stickers of these pieces special shoutout to @nicograffics for also participating and @notmarlenevega for inspiring me to make stickers of my calabaza 🎃 by @moonsunandlove
