Moravian OT, PT, and Nursing students teamed up across local senior living communities to educate, screen, and identify fall risks while sharing strategies to help older adults stay safe and independent.

Our students had the opportunity to join in on 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘺 event hosted by the political science department 𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑫𝒓. 𝑨𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒛𝒐 🩷

Dr. Parezo shared her personal journey as a survivor of a stray-bullet shooting that resulted in a spinal cord injury and how that experience, along with her work as a professor, occupational therapist, and wheelchair user, has shaped her passion for advocacy. Her work promoting accessibility, inclusion, and gun-violence prevention was incredibly inspiring!

We’re grateful to welcome back alumni Lauren Peters, MS, OTR/L, who recently returned to campus to deliver a guest lecture for OT501 on amputation rehabilitation. Lauren, who works on the stroke and amputee floor at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Center Valley and serves as Co-Chair of the Amputation Program, was joined by her colleague Ashley Williams, PTA, also a member of the stroke and amputee team and Co-Chair of the Amputation Program.

Together, Lauren and Ashley shared their clinical expertise through a dynamic presentation that gave students valuable insight into amputation rehabilitation. The session concluded with a hands-on demonstration of stump wrapping, providing students with the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world clinical practice.

Our OT501 first-year MSOT students had the incredible opportunity to learn from Natalie Dispoto, MS, OTR/L, CSRS, CSOT! 🧠💙

Natalie brought her clinical expertise, passion for stroke rehabilitation, and real-world experiences into the classroom, helping our students connect evidence-based practice with the meaningful impact occupational therapy can have in the lives of stroke survivors.
