There have been too many innocent lives taken by gun violence. @morethanastat_ is on there 6th year of bringing awareness and positive reform to our youth. We are accepting not only monetary donations but clothes and supplies to support the youth throughout the school year. Help us help them. The 6th Annual Stop the Killing Basketball Tournament is about more than basketball, it’s about recognizing the incredible young people in our communities and making sure they leave with access to resources that help them thrive.
🏆 Youth Citations
We’re honoring youth who are making a difference in their schools, neighborhoods, organizations, and communities.
If you have a young person you’d like us to recognize, please DM @morethanastat_ with:
• Full Name
• A short bio
• Why they should be highlighted
• What they’re doing in their community
(Please submit 1–2 young people per organization.)

Six years. Countless lives impacted. One community committed to creating safer spaces for our young people. ❤️

What started as a tournament has grown into a movement rooted in healing, unity, opportunity, and violence prevention. Every year, Stop the Killing brings our community together to honor lives, build connections, and remind our youth that they are seen, valued, and supported.

As we mark our 6th year, we’re asking our community to help us keep this work going. Your support makes it possible to provide resources, programming, and safe spaces that extend far beyond tournament day.

The latest @nyamnews series reinforces what we’ve always believed: safer communities are built through investment, not enforcement. Both parts are out now, check them out!!

The conversation can’t stop at getting guns off the streets. We also have to ask: what are we putting into our communities? Through our annual Stop the Killing Basketball Tournament, we’re investing in young people with resources, mentorship, and safe spaces because real violence prevention starts with commUNITY. Grateful and honored that @morethanastat_ is featured in @nyamnews Black New Yorker column by @ponterotto . Amsterdam News is the most influential Black-owned newspaper in the U.S and is based in HARLEM!! serving as a voice for black Americans for decades so it’s a true honor for our founder @aaliyahguillory to be showcased in this newspaper and highlighting the work being done for years along with the transformation 💐

“The youth have the power to change the world but the youth also needs backup from people like us to draw out the greatness” 🙌🏾

3 wise brothers who have went down the wrong path and now dedicated their life to repairing the harm they caused in their communities as youth leave a message for the youth now 🫡 This movement has always been inter generational and will continue to be. The wisdom from our elders combined with the passion from our youth will push the revolution forward. We are reclaiming our communities ✊🏽✨
