Brilliant day at Heswall FC as joint managers Steve Symes and Jon Goulding took charge of their first Moreton II game.
1-1 at half time would have been a fair result with outstanding passing football from Moreton II on a tricky surface.
Heswall always looked threatening on the break but really three players kept Heswall in the game in the first half: the two centre halves and the right winger were excellent with Moreton controlling midfield, playing neat, controlled football, sharing the ball and moving up the pitch together as well as being by far the braver side in their own defensive third on the ball.
Sonny Anderson and Jack Burgwin outstanding and full backs Hillhouse and Owen offering excellent width and productive crosses and through passes to Jones and Steele playing as a big and small partnership up front and pinning Heswall's centre backs and allowing no time in the ball.
A solid and smart debut from Jamie Steele was capped by a fine header unmarked in the 6 yard box after a pinpoint delivery from Dale Atherton.
Changes broke Moreton's rhythm a little bit for the opening 15 minutes until a further organisation re-established control although Heswall now had the upper hand.
Regardless of the result, a great day for the joint management team, a great day for Moreton FC, superb team display first half and really about which team made the fewer defensive errors to win the game.
Congratulations to Lee Hawkins and his lads in an important game for both sides.
Player of the Match:
Following up his debut goal for Moreton's first team Jack Burgwin with another intelligent display wins the award, although all the midfielders played well in the first half with good combinations and switches of play and bringing the strikers and full backs into play as well as quick regains of possession. by @moretonfc2023

Moreton Football Club are delighted to welcome @tradeframedirectwirral as the official sponsor of our Moreton FC Academy for the next two seasons!

Our Academy is where everything starts. It is the beginning of the Moreton pathway, where our youngest players first pull on the badge, make friends, learn the game and hopefully begin a journey that sees them progress into our teams and represent Moreton Football Club for many years to come.

Support like this makes a massive difference to our club. It allows us to continue investing in our youngest players, our volunteer coaches, equipment and, most importantly, providing the best possible environment for children taking their first steps into football.

A massive THANK YOU to Trade Frame Direct for believing in what we are building and committing your support to our Academy for the next two seasons. We're really looking forward to having you as part of the Moreton family. 💜💛

🏠 Trade Frame Direct Ltd
📍 Unit 11, Egerton Court, Tower Road, Birkenhead, CH41 1FH

🔴⚽ ACADEMY KITS NOW AVAILABLE!

Please see our Lead Foundation Academy Coach, Alan Jones, for more information and to get yours.
Everything starts at the Academy. The start of our pathway. 💜

Massive congratulations to Mylo, Elliott and Freddie 😻 on signing for Crewe Alexandra U8s Academy!

Two of the lads have been with Moreton Football Club Academy since F1, and all three have played together for Moreton Argentina. We are incredibly proud to see their football journey continue and, even better, all three still proudly represent Moreton Football Club every Sunday. 💜💛

This is a fantastic achievement for the boys and also a proud moment for everyone involved in their development.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteer Academy coaches who have given their time over the years to help, encourage and develop these young players. 👏

Mylo, Elliott and Freddie — enjoy every minute of this opportunity. Keep working hard, keep enjoying your football and keep making memories together.
Everyone at Moreton Football Club is incredibly proud of you! 💜💛⚽️
