dancing in the rain is more fun!!!!!!! 🌧️💃🏻🫶🏻🕺🏻✨😋

The way that Meggan + JJ’s reception unfolded is truly one for the books! An outdoor dance floor is already such a vibe & so much fun, but then throw in a thunderstorm for the last hour of dancing?! ICONIC. The band kept playing, everyone kept dancing, & it was truly one of the most incredible nights to be a part of!!

So if you’re scared of rain on your wedding day, take a page out of Meg + JJ’s book & EMBRACE IT. Dance in the rain!!! Make the most of the night with your favorite people around you & ENJOY EVERY SECOND! Even if you’re soaking wet 🤪

& when you have an incredible vendor team like they did, you can dance the night away knowing that everything is being taken care of & documented right!!!😋🫶🏻

After 8 years of photographing weddings, I’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen hundreds of couples profess their love and celebrate their day in a way that (hopefully) feels true to them. But I can tell you for certain that this wedding was exactly true to Maylee & Logan. No hopefully about it.

Their love for the outdoors, being near the water, spending time with their loved ones, folk music, cabins, and all things cozy northern michigan shone through so so brightly. A cloudy rainy morning did nothing to stop them from celebrating outside all day long. Getting ready by window light. Twinkly lights in a clear tent outside the cabins, complete with the sweetest of details. A ceremony backed up to the water’s edge, making the most beautiful blue backdrop. Late night dancing under the stars and games by the bonfire. And the sun finally shining after they said “I Do!”

All while surrounded by only their closest friends and family. A perfect reminder that you can keep things simple and still create a beautiful wedding day that you’ll remember forever!

When you plan a day that feels like you, it’s easy to let go & just enjoy! No one was stressed about time or details that didn’t matter. Their main focus was on celebrating their new marriage!

So gimme all the backyard, airbnb, lakeside weddings pls & thank you!! Because a day like this will live rent free in my head forever <3

Your sign not to forget about the guys!! Give them the opportunity to get some fun photos together in the morning before all the chaos of the day starts.

Jordan & his guys were getting ready at @shinoladetroit hotel in downtown Detroit & once they got dressed, we walked down the street to a bar for a drink and some fun photos of them all hanging out. It’s the perfect time for a mix of candids + a few prompted poses by me!

This is also why I loveeeee offering full day wedding coverage so that I’m able to make time for both partners’ getting ready photos ✨
