Well. This was unexpected.

-Unique magic systems
-Amazing technology
-True enemies to...enemies
-War trauma
-Secrets

This is a wildly good introduction to this world at war. Under the Iron Sky is dark, as far as adult fantasy goes. It doesnt shy away from torture, trauma, and the realities of war.

Our MCs are on different sides of this war, and have comparable experiences which results in them being sympathetic towards eachother despite their seething hatred. Each are supported by wonderfully flushed out side characters that you simply can't stop yourself from growing attached to.

I want to express all the things in loved about this plot but so much of this plot involves the secrets each character holds. In my opinion this is one of the books that you need to go in blind, but be fully aware that this story is dark.

My heart is both eager to see what comes next while simultaneously breaking as there is no way it ends well.

So, I'm confused, hate everyone, angry, and once more, confused.

Our FMC is a pampered princess who has been lied to her entire life. An entitled brat who fancies herself capable. Our MMC, you won't even know the name of until halfway through the story, and even once I finished this book still know almost nothing about him. I do love the interactions of his friends though, they're great side characters.

The plot appears straightforward, a princess is destined to save the realms and is kidnapped, but obviously this all goes a bit sideways. We are told to look at this; Day and Night; that's what is spoke of and what we are focused on, so needless to say I was not expecting that ending OR that information. This is one of those books that is a challenge to review without spoilers because it is the spoilers that make this story.

That said, with that ending I have a million questions and have no idea what's going on anymore.

Random note: This is not a slowburn. Our MCs want to hate fuck each other from the beginning. They DON'T but they want to; they're immediately lustful and angry about it. by @morganraes91

For fans of Lights Out who want things to be just a little darker.

This story follows Casper and the quiet pink haired girl, Anna, who we briefly meet in Ink and Alchemy. Casper is a poster child for foster children and ADHD. He is a big, gentle protective man and I adore him. Anna has a lot of trauma from her past and is slow to open up. I loved watching them grow past their past traumas together.

This does have that pesky third act breakup but ultimately this story is an amazing installment in this series and I will absolutely read Thors story next.

TW: stalking, voyeurism, rape, graphic violence, drug use, loss of a parent.

Thank you @netgalley ✨️

It isn't love. It's obsession.

I'm in awe of this story. There are no good guys here, the question is simply what morals you are willing to compromise.

What happens when the crimes you commit leave a visible mark on your body? The answer is a religious cult being installed as the overreaching government and controlling society.

This is no traditional romance, since the characters you meet have no problems lying, manipulating or even murdering to get what they want. Despite this darkness I found myself enthralled by Slade and Talin. Their bi4bi sadomasochistic relationship had me on the edge of my seat. The ending was absolutely disastrous, that was a devastating cliffhanger and I am in distress thinking about it. The second book cannot come soon enough.

This book wont be for everyone but it was absolutely for me. 🔥😍

This story is reality shifting into a lucid nightmare. It is the things you love and hold dear being stolen from you and turned into horrors beyond your understanding. This story will leave you questioning everything you have read thus far.

Florescentia explores the notion of a realm existing beyond ours, a place between life and death where all things are beyond the understanding of humans. However with the right offerings you can earn the favor of these beings between realms, favor which can translate to bargains or luck. But dealing with immortal, all powerful beings comes with a cost. After a bargain with the Other turns sour, Lucia finds herself at a loss as the cost of her mistake was the life of her husband.

Everything this monster says and shows Lucia exists between romantic and manipulation, between reality and the imaginary. This monster is distoring Lucias reality and decisions in an attempt to force her into joining him in the Other.

Ultimately this book will leave you confused, horrified, and yet yearning for more. I cannot wait for book 2.

Thank you @netgalley for this amazing ARC.

This was a perfect little murdery novella. Brynne Weaver consistently writes amazing, morally questionable characters with such likable personalities. An assassin whose specialty is poison working as a chef while accidentally nearly killing another assassin with her pastry? Talk about a whole new flavour of meet-cute.

Love Antidote could have been a full length novel and I would have devoured it.

✨️Shifter
✨️Mystery and intrigue
✨️Love Triangle
✨️Betrayal and revenge
✨️Yearning; so much yearning.

A young woman tries to blend in with the village people in attempt to uncover the true cause of death of the bodies left in her forest, all the while her heart pulls her in two directions. Should she follow her human side, or let the wolf chose her path?

Lua is the 7th daughter, which makes her cursed and claimed by the forest. With this role she has inherited the responsibility of guarding her section of the wood alongside the wolves who have adopted her. Despite belonging to the woods she is drawn to a young boy from the village and eventually her childhood infatuation turns into a convenient courtship, allowing her to leave the forest behind and embrace her human half.

Lua's identity is an ongoing struggle for her as she maneuvers through the village and fickle social etiquette while attempting to help discover the true cause of death of the bodies left in the wood. While on this path Lua experiences abuse, manipulation, and betrayal but refuses to be deterred from finding the truth. Her determination to stop these murders and protect her forest is honorable, and as this story reached it's climax I found myself very worried that the magic of the forest couldn't survive the greed of humanity.

I thoroughly enjoyed this very fast paced, dark story and will be stressfully waiting for more of Lua's journey.

This story is a perfect read for anyone who is familiar with BG3 and loved Astarion. I am very happy to have read this, despite (knowing) how depressing his backstory is. Kingfisher perfectly captures Astarions clever machinations and flamboyant personality while underneath it all being laced with sadness.

This story follows two timelines, one being Astarion in his youth and the events which lead him to Baldur's gate, and the other being his life as a Thrall in Cazador's Palace. I very much enjoyed seeing the transition between the man he was and the thrall he became, and learning how he was shaped by the people in his life.

Rooftop Henry is spectacular.

Thank you @netgalley 🥰

We are immediately thrust into a drab, cursed city which was left ravaged by the Banes who had laid waste to the world. All feels hopeless, and just reading about their life made me feel sick. Yet despite this I loved how atmospheric this story is regardless of where the characters travel to.

This story has people who are either Fae or Fiend, the latter of which is Esti. The cursed offspring of the now banished Banes find themselves hated for their parentage. Despite the fae rejecting, abusing, and constantly treating her as a monster, Esti remains resilient and strong willed which certainly fed into some heated bickering once she (along with many other fiends) gets kidnapped by Piper. This story is very fast paced, so there are certainly lots of strong feelings to be dealt with.

I loved where this plot brought us, in fact once Pipers motives were revealed I was thoroughly impressed by the uniqueness of the story, and simultaneously incredibly worried for the characters I was growing to love. And I simply must add how much I absolutely love Conrad. What a man.

Since this is a Duology I fully expected a cliffhanger but I did not expect THAT. Waiting for book 1 to come out will be torturous.

This is my unexpected love of 2026.

Starts out strong! Both prologue and first chapter are quick paced and I was immediately drawn into the incredibly high stakes and mysterious ongoings of this scheme. Immediately notable is the excellent writing of this story; the word choice is often refined and elevated which immerses the reader in this world.

The atmosphere and world building is great. The Victorian era, horses and carriage, and manors which have such magnificent stature they boarder on castles. I also found great appreciation for the political commentary and subtext of this story.

I adore Viola and Hugh. Viola is a result of a tragic past and has developed into a clever and resilient woman, in a world where women are seen as lesser. Her motives are clear and consistent while she navigates the games of the upper class. Hugh is the patient, charming, strong willed man that every woman deserves. Despite being a part of the inner circles of upper society he was never blinded to the realities the rest of the population face. In addition to strong, clever main characters, the side characters had such distinct personalities. Felicity is such a darling, Mrs Keyes scares me, and Reddy is such a sly, chaotic man. All of these characters play so well together and their relationships are beautifully written.

This is a wonderfully high stakes mystery, I didn't have any suspicions of anyone or anything so at every turn I was surprised. This is truely a woven masterpiece. In fact, I had no idea of what was going to happen until literal moments before the pivotal point of the story.

I absolutely cannot recommend this story enough. Immortal Rose is simply immaculate.

3⭐️ Mega Spoiler review because I have many comments.

I am really upset that this book is simply not for me, especially since I loved the Villains of Lore books.

The plot starts out so strong, and then immediately falls off. What sense is there housing the strongest criminal capitive they've ever had with the weak/newly turned mage with no training? Absolutely illogical. And to wait until the very end to find out why they were housed together felt delayed, especially when his identity felt obvious from early on. Ultimately I found that the plot feels stagnant beyond that, as nothing of note really happens outside of repetitive training and bickering for roughly 50% of the novel. And then we get the reveal about the details surrounding the death of her closest friend and just immediately move on past that. Um, sorry, what? This continent has planes and missles but they still ride horses? They prefer swords and daggers? This feels awfully disjointed to the tech and advancements they possess.

Zora is a great FMC...but her competitive habits against Tarantula felt repetitive and juvenile, at the start it was fun but quickly eroded and I find it took away from her strong persona. Tarantula.... I really wanted to like, but the attempt at old english kept pulling me out of the story and threw me off. I think if he just spoke normally this would have fixed this with him, alternatively the old english could have been more polished so his dialogue had better flow. I also found the purity culture and obsession with physical impropriety off-putting. It made me incredibly uncomfortable that he consistently was degrading Zoras clothing and mannerisms. I understand that he has different expectations about these things and this topic but after several months housed with Zora there should have been some degree of development from both of them regarding their issues but it didnt feel as though any occured.

Squire is absolute perfection. The little tiny owl companion was the highlight of whatever scene he was included in. Snarky precious little friend. He is honestly the main reason I finished this book.

Review continued in comments.
