Hey everyone! I just wanted to say I finished my Cara portfolio! That is where all of my professional work can be found now. (Link in bio)

For those who don’t know about Cara: This app was created by the artist Jingna Zhang (@zemotion) as a safe haven for all artists from unconsensually having their art scraped to train Artificial Intelligences. Although some Ai is beneficial, majority of the ways Ai has been implemented in the art world has harmed artists and is being developed by people who are mainly interested in making a profit, not the creation of art itself. Especially after Meta’s new policy about data scrapping and privacy changes that came in May 2024 this app is something we artists needed. I personally moved to this app after checking out their FAQ page which gave information on their beliefs. Some of this includes “we believe artist’s rights should be respected”, “we automatically implement No Ai”, and “until legislation passes to clearly protect artist, we do not believe in hosting Ai Art unless the rampant ethical and data privacy issues around datasets are resolved”. Other reasons I moved to this app is that it’s free to use, the app is self funded through donations, and there are no ads or selling of data to market to you. I also love how it’s is very customizable and offers job opportunities but still looks like twitter / X and instagram. Lastly, I feel less pressure to post as I feel protected as an artist and don’t have pressure of trying to gain an audience as I do here on instagram. Overall go check out Cara & donate if you can!

So excited to announce that my work is on display at the San Diego County Fair this year in the Gems, Minerals, & Jewelry Competition June 10th-July 5th! A little late but I graduated! I received my BFA degree from @cacollegeofarts in the Individualized Studies program with a minor in Critical Ethnic Studies! With the sad news of the 119 year old institution closing next year I want to thank my instructors, peers, bosses, and colleagues I spent my time with that helped shape me into the artist I am today! I hope we continue to create and foster this community despite the building being gone. Congratulations to my fellow graduates and good luck to the future! Spread joy and creativity! by @morgbyr
