I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s been a year without you.A part of me is still waiting for you to walk through the front door and tell us this was a bad dream. I thought the hardest thing would be saying goodbye to you, but the hardest thing has been trying to go on without you. Somehow it’s been a year since that day but it feels like yesterday. I hold close today to all our family Christmas memories together. The ones that feel especially heavy now like watching Christmas movies by the fire on the couch, opening gifts, and the magic of christmas that you created for us. Even though the holidays will never be the same without you, the Christmas memories you created with us will last us a lifetime. Today we’re together, yet there’s an emptiness that can never be filled, because you are supposed to be here with us. I find myself thinking of you constantly, wishing you were sitting beside us, & wishing I could catch you up on all that has happened this year. The overwhelming amount of grief I feel is a reminder of how lucky I am to have loved someone so much.
