lol to my travel diaries. We’re over half way in on our trip now. The plan was to share the daily details but for now I’ll share some of the top highlights.

We started our trip in Almalfi coast. We hiked the path of the Gods into positano - a 4 hour hike along coastline in sandals with a few rain showers and over and hour of walking down hill / down steps. Memorable to say the least ✨.

Hike of the Gods. Goats in the cliffs, donkeys on the trails. Such a cool experience.

We walked through Positano, caught a boat to Almalfi, walked to Atrani stopped for a dip in the ocean and a made it back for dinner in Agerola —- raking over 40k steps in our 1st day 😅

We were supposed to go to Capri next but a thunderstorm came in and ferries were canceled. We could have taken the risk to go but there was no guarantee of getting off the island for the next leg of our trip. We decided to shift plans and head north to sunnier weather.

Also proud of us for only packing a carry on and personal item for the whole 10 day trip. It made it easier to move around.

This day ended up being a full travel day. A bus to Almalfi, a ferry to Salerno and then we literally just jumped on the train with no location locked down. We researched our next destination while in route. Deciding on staying at a thermal bath and Spa hotel, so that if rain hits we could be marooned inside in a relaxing location.

By evening we found ourself in a very small town in the hills called Porreta Terme. It turned out to be quite the treasure. The stars here were the twinkliest were had ever seen.

The town was small but stunning. Quiet and picturesque.
We were the only tourist in the town. And we were repeat customers at the same restaurant because it was a local treasure —where the original owner of 80+ years old is still the main chef.

We also had the same young waiter every time and he shook his head and laughed at us when we walked through the doors for the third time in two days lol.

Morning walks along the river felt like fall magic✨
To be honest we were still having a hard time getting sleep so walks became our go-to.

Our nature study is in full swing🔥

Across our collective eight children @mackinziehays and I have created our own little homeschool cohort. We’ve planned out a nature study that takes us through the seasons. With a different theme every week. This week it covers the anatomy of an apple, the apple lifecycle, taste testing, crafts, hand rhymes, art appreciation, and a baking project. Every week includes a related field trip and honestly just any opportunity to have fun.

This is week one 🍎✨

Thank you for hosting us this week!

Welcomed the fall season and our first homeschool nature studies with a trip to the Apple farm on its opening day.

First time Apple picking and it’s as magical for them as it sounds. Can easily see this becoming a new tradition.

Now proud owners of 25lbs of apples. Send your favorite recipes please ✨ taken in Clearview Orchards by @moriah.maranitch

In our homeschool era.

This is our path, and it’s a joyful one — mornings that start with Scripture before spelling, questions we get to chase together, and days that don’t always look the same. Some are spent at our kitchen table. Others are spent outside in our side yard, the beach, a park, a zoo, a trail with a nature journal in hand — because learning doesn’t have to happen in just one place.

I won’t pretend I have it all figured out. We’re still waiting on our charter enrollment, still building our rhythm. But I know what I want our days built on: real books, real questions, real wonder, and a whole lot of trust that this season is exactly what it should be.

Two weeks into this adventure, and I already know: this is exactly where we’re supposed to be. Cheering on every family and every path — ours just happens to look like this right now and I’m gonna make the absolute most of it 🤍

Catalina is starting first grade. And apparently she wants to be an ice skater. That’s new.

Elena is starting TK. At least that’s what she would’ve been starting based on the public school cutoff. But so far I’m finding her curriculum to be too easy so I may do a hybrid kindergarten program with her instead. But that’s also the beauty of homeschool. It can be personalized and adapted.

We started the good and the beautiful curriculum. But we may have to adapt once we get accepted into our charter school. Little pilgrims progress for our first read aloud and we’re already 3/4 of the way through the book—- the kids beg me to read more chapters!

Fully leaned into first day of school decorations. Jeremy surprise the girls with first day of school bagels from their favorite shop.

I told the girls to draw a self portrait. Both of them individual chose to do family portraits instead.

Dad is flying on a unicorn.
Mom is climbing a tree picking apples.
Jeremiah is parasailing.
And yes Catalina is standing on a rainbow

Elenas self portrait.

I bet you can’t guess which one she is 😂

Math curriculum + drawing station.
Markers are a huge hit with these girls

Mia is quite the cheerleader! Will probably end up leaning into some preschool curriculum for her cause she just likes by @moriah.maranitch

You’re too good to be true.

✨ Happy 1st birthday, Jeremiah ✨ I sang you into the world with this song, not knowing how true it would really be. A year of watching God’s goodness wrapped in a tiny, smiley, giggling gift. Thank you for making us a family of six. We love you beyond words, sweet boy. by @moriah.maranitch

Spent the weekend in Orange County with my sister Miranda + her fiancé, Matt for her very first music festival 🌼 It had been over a decade since I’d been to one myself, and the thought of a whole weekend together was something I couldn’t say no to. We hit every activation station, stood in every long line for swag (heat warning and all ☀️), and squeezed in a cute photo shoot at every chance we got — because one-on-one time with her is so rare these days. Miranda was my first love before I ever had my own kids, and getting to make new memories with her, priceless. Love you, sister. 💛 taken in Great Park by @moriah.maranitch
