Bass-Baritone, Poet and Teacher Lloyd Reshard, hails from northwest Florida. His 2022-23 season started began performing the title role of Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Fargo-Moorhead Opera followed by Dr. Dulcamara in John Davies’ Pinocchio, Balthazar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Death in Holst’s Savitri with First Coast Opera. Coming up, Lloyd will be returning to Fargo for the role of Colline in La Boheme.

Mr. Reshard is the artistic director and a performer in the narrated song cycle Viola: The Song Cycle, which chronicles the tragic accounts of Pensacola’s first black hospital named after its founder, The Viola Edward’s Hospital.

In addition to performance, Lloyd has written text in collaboration with Haitian-American composer Sydney Guillaume on two choral works, This, Too, Shall Pass (premiered by Master Chorale of Tampa Bay April 2022) and Nou La (premiered by Phoenix Chamber Choir May 2022). Their third collaboration "A Taste of Freedom" will premiere with Spokane Symphony and Chorale in February 2023 on their MASTERWORKS 6: MADE IN AMERICA concert. taken in Mead Botanical Garden by @morishiba

#ArtistSpotlight for the talented Lloyd Reshard playing NED in our upcoming production of TREEMONISHA, and DON PEDRO in our double bill production of BEATRICE + BENEDICT / CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA!🎭✨

Bass-baritone Lloyd Reshard is a multifaceted artist—performer, poet, and teacher—with past roles including Figaro in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Death in Holst’s
SAVITRI with First Coast Opera, and of course his Opera Orlando debut as Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors! You may also recognize Lloyd from his portrayal of Zuniga in our production of CARMEN and Cesare Angelotti in TOSCA.

Lloyd is the artistic director and a featured performer in Viola: The Song Cycle, a moving work that tells the story of Pensacola’s first Black hospital and its namesake. Lloyd also collaborates with composer Sydney Guillaume, having written texts for several acclaimed choral works, including This, Too, Shall Pass and Nou La.

We can’t wait for you to see him bring his powerful voice and stage presence to our upcoming productions!

Thank you to Rev. Blake Hutson and Lois Henry of St. Jude's Episcopal Church for inviting me to sing on their Christmas Eve Midnight Service 2024. It was magical to bring this beautiful work in such a setting. Charles Ives was an organist for churches when he was a teenager, so when he makes an effort to write spiritual text and music, I always find it has depth; depth of faith and intellect.
