Hiii ! 💫✨ I think it is due time I reintroduce myself. My name is Storm Kiet Nguyen, or “The Morning Rainstorm” 🌊⛈️🌪️. I am a Fashion Editorial Photographer and Creative Director based in Seattle, Washington. I started taking photography seriously in 2018 during the senior year of high school and have remain committed to evolving my craft since! As a Queer Nonbinary individual and First generation Vietnamese American, I am so proud to showcase the pride I carry within my identities and thoroughly represent that my work is a reflection of the experiences I grew up, am currently making and aspire to paint in the future! I would describe my photography aesthetic as colorfully nostalgic, thought-provoking and a symbol of fluidity.As a creative, I cherish the value of community very close to my heart by highlighting “stories” as an extremely critical aspect in my work. My passion for my craft is fueled by my love for centering the stories and identities of my “muses” in front of the camera. - Transcending Fluidities ~ Chapter 4, Part 2: Yearning On Uranus, The Core -The core is an integral structure, the center of all existence in a planet, the universe and the galaxy. For Uranus— a planet that can spiritually interpreted as one of longing, lost and isolation but also tenderness, lies this desire for a soft romantic image of love that many queer southeast Asians at some point in their lives feel resonate with and believed felt right. - Transcending Fluidities Chapter 4: Yearning On Uranus ~ Part 1: The Rings - Chapter 4 of Transcending Fluidities explores yearning, love and loss on all forms. The Femme Queer Southeast Asian experience of navigating these themes often present itself in our adolescence to early adulthood. As many of us grapple with wanting or desiring the idea of romance as our heteronormative counterparts but not necessarily being able to have an easy of experience due to stigma and fear. Uranus, the seventh planet from the Sun & identified as the cold cyan-colored ice giant sits in isolation. A position that feels all too familiar of the idea of yearning for something tender and dear yet so far out of reach. Femininity is represented here as tender, soft and in its true form of “yearning” for something more. And yet, these rings are not complete without its core working in tandem with one another.Huge thank you again to my team for bringing this vision to life! There is more from this shoot to come so stay tuned!
